ESPN personalities Malika Andrews and Dave McMenamin recently celebrated their love with a stunning wedding ceremony on August 24, 2024, a date known as Kobe Bryant Day, in a heartfelt tribute to the late NBA legend. The couple, who both work as prominent NBA reporters, exchanged vows at Cavallo Point, a picturesque location at the foot of the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco.

The choice of date was particularly meaningful for the couple, given their deep ties to the NBA and their shared admiration for Kobe Bryant. McMenamin, who has long covered the Los Angeles Lakers for ESPN, honored Bryant’s legacy by wearing Mambacita Nikes during the wedding—a subtle but poignant nod to the Black Mamba’s impact on the game and their lives.

Andrews, the host of NBA Today and NBA Countdown, looked radiant in a custom lace wedding gown that beautifully blended classic and modern elements. The dress, inspired by Grace Kelly, was designed with intricate hand-placed appliqués and a clean, feminine skirt shape. Her bouquet of roses was wrapped in her late grandmother’s handkerchief, adding a personal touch to her bridal ensemble.

The wedding was filled with basketball-themed tributes that reflected the couple’s shared passion for the sport. From a fully functional basketball hoop at the reception to a seating chart designed like an NBA tournament bracket, the event seamlessly blended their professional lives with their personal celebration. The couple’s journey together began in 2017 when they met while covering a Knicks vs. Cavaliers game at Madison Square Garden—a moment that set the stage for their love story.

Throughout the wedding weekend, the festivities were imbued with symbolic and personal touches that honored both of their histories. The rehearsal dinner took place at Sociale, a significant location for Andrews’ family, and Syracuse Spritzes were served in a nod to McMenamin’s alma mater.

Reflecting on their special day, Andrews expressed her joy in being surrounded by family and friends, and her excitement for the future, as she spoke to Vogue:

“It was such a joy to be surrounded by our family and friends. And while I am loving reliving the night by swapping stories with Dave and our guests, and looking back through photos… I am so looking forward to settling into our marriage.”

The couple’s wedding not only celebrated their love but also paid homage to their deep connection to basketball, making it a truly unforgettable day.
