The Golden State Warriors may not be the team they once were, but they are not ready to give up now. According to NBA insider Brett Siegel, the Warriors remain committed to winning a championship around their longtime franchise superstar.

Curry was drafted back in 2009 with the 7th overall pick. Coming out of Davidson, Steph was hailed for his ball handling and amazing shooting ability that eventually led to a breakout season with the Warriors.
Over the past 15 years, Curry has cemented himself as an all-time great with averages of 24.8 points, 6.4 assists, and 4.7 rebounds per game on 47.3% shooting. Widely regarded as the greatest shooter in basketball history, Curry is a legend in the NBA as a 4x champion, 10x All-Star, and 2x scoring leader. This summer also made him an Olympic gold medalist with averages of 12.4 points and 2.4 rebounds per game in 21.8 minutes.
Steph has spent all of his career with the Warriors and has become the face of the franchise after leading them to prosperity and establishing a dynasty from 2015 to 2019. He’s made history in the Warriors jersey and after he played like a star in the 2023-24 campaign, there is optimism that he can keep up this pace for several more years to come.
But after struggling to avoid the lottery last season, finishing 10th in the West, the Warriors are under more pressure now than ever before to stay competitive and make moves that will move the team forward.
Curry has maintained his loyalty to the franchise from the beginning and he still has two years and $114 million left on his deal. Even so, Curry has been clear about his desire to win. Even after winning four championships in one of the most impressive stretches in history, Steph is still not yet satisfied and he wants to do whatever it takes to add more trophies to his record.
The biggest problem for the Warriors is how they can get back to being competitive after losing so many of their key players. With the departure of Klay Thompson last month, the Warriors lost a vital member of their championship core and the only one they brought to replace him is the young and unproven Buddy Hield.
Besides the typical heroics from Steph, it will take a monster effort from guys like Andrew Wiggins, Draymond Green, and Jonathan Kuminga for the Warriors to compete at a high level. In the West, with teams like the Nuggets, Timberwolves, and Mavericks, the margin for error is slim and the barrier for avoiding the play-in will be steep.
In truth, the Warriors may struggle to get back to the top of the West but they owe it to Steph to do everything in their power to get there. With the time that he still has left, the Warriors can win more titles and further establish their place in history as one of the richest and most successful franchises in modern sports history.
