During a recent appearance on ESPN’s ‘Get Up,’ NBA insider Brian Windhorst heaped praise on Anthony Davis, declaring him the best player on Team USA. Windhorst’s comments come amidst a series of exhibition games where Davis has been a standout performer on both ends of the floor.

“I cannot say enough how great Anthony Davis looks. Anthony Davis has been the best player on this team, an absolute beast on the defensive end. At the big man position, which is where Team USA needs it, I think they’re in good position. Let’s see how they bounce back tonight with what I’m sure will be better focus.”

Davis’s statistics in the four exhibition games so far have been nothing short of impressive. On average, Davis is putting up 12.3 points, 10.5 rebounds, 1.3 assists, 1.3 steals, and 3.5 blocks per game. These numbers highlight his all-around impact, particularly on the defensive end where his presence has been described as “out of this world.”

Given Davis’s phenomenal showing, there have been increasing calls for him to replace Joel Embiid in the starting lineup. Embiid has struggled in recent games, and Davis’s stellar performances have made a compelling case for the switch.

Davis’s defensive prowess has been a critical factor for Team USA. His ability to guard the paint, block shots, and rebound effectively has provided the team with a much-needed defensive anchor. This kind of performance is crucial for Team USA as they prepare for the upcoming international competitions, where strong interior defense will be essential.

Windhorst’s high praise for Davis is well-founded. His dominant performances in the exhibition games have not only positioned him as a key player for Team USA but have also sparked discussions about his potential as a starter. If Davis continues on this trajectory, he could be the cornerstone of Team USA’s defense and a significant contributor to their success.

Big Season Incoming For Anthony Davis?

Anthony Davis is poised for a breakout season with the Los Angeles Lakers, building on his spectacular form from the previous year. Last season, Davis averaged an impressive 24.7 points, 12.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, 1.2 steals, and 2.1 blocks per game. His consistent performance earned him a spot on the All-NBA Third Team and the All-Defensive First Team, highlighting his impact on both ends of the court.

A key factor in Davis’s success last season was his durability. He played in 76 games, the most in his career, which allowed him to maintain his rhythm and contribute significantly to the Lakers’ efforts throughout the season. His presence on the court was crucial for the Lakers, and his ability to stay healthy will be vital for their success moving forward.

The Lakers are entering a new era under head coach JJ Redick, who has already expressed his intention to make Davis the focal point of the team’s offense. Redick’s coaching philosophy is expected to maximize Davis’s strengths, allowing him to dominate in the paint and extend his range with mid-range and perimeter shooting. This new approach could see Davis take his game to even greater heights, further establishing himself as one of the premier big men in the league.

The Lakers are coming off a disappointing season, having been knocked out in the first round of the playoffs by the Denver Nuggets. This early exit has undoubtedly fueled their desire to bounce back stronger. With LeBron James approaching 40 and likely taking on a reduced role, the onus will be on Davis to lead the team and carry a significant load on both ends of the floor.

All signs point to a big season ahead for Anthony Davis. His stellar form, combined with a new coaching strategy that emphasizes his role, sets the stage for him to elevate his game further. If Davis can maintain his health and continue to perform at an elite level, he will be the driving force behind the Lakers’ quest for redemption in the upcoming season.
