Luka Doncic Gets His Post-Game Beer Snatched By Mavericks’ Assistant GM Michael Finley

Luka Doncic is very uncomplicated. He wants to dominate on the court and has been doing it through the first six years of his career, but he wants to indulge in the normal facets of life. He’s spoken about his fondness of drinking beer before and had a beer can snatched from his hand in the locker room by Mavs’ legend and assistant GM Michael Finley.

Doncic’s fondness for drinking has been well-known. He exclaimed how badly he wanted a ‘recovery’ beer after his 60-20-10 performance in OT against the Knicks in 2022, leading to a beer fridge being gifted to the Slovenian star from Modelo. He’s also been spotted drinking before Playoff matchups earlier in his career.

Luka Doncic might not be the ideal role model for many with these antics, but he’s never let any habits like this stop him from dominating on the court. He’s having a beer after the game with a week-long layoff before the NBA Finals. With the 36 points and 10 rebounds, he put up tonight, we can agree he did more than enough to deserve it.

Luka averaged 32.4 points, 9.6 rebounds, and 8.2 assists in the Conference Finals and was named Conference Finals MVP unanimously for his incredible performances in this five-game series win.

Luka Doncic Is 4 Wins Away From History

The Mavericks are in the third NBA Finals in their franchise’s history, going 1-1 in their two previous appearances. Both those matchups came against the Miami Heat, losing in 2006 before getting their revenge in 2011. This year, they have brand-new opponents in the Boston Celtics.

Doncic has a 5-6 record against the Celtics in his career, averaging 29.9 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 7.5 assists. Many of Luka’s early-career highlights have come against the Celtics, including two buzzer-beating game-winners and a buzzer-beating assist for a game-winner. The script has flipped in recent seasons, with the Mavs losing their last four games over two years against the Celtics.

The Celtics won 64 games this season and are dominating the NBA’s leaderboards in almost every category. They were the No. 1 offense in the NBA this season and the No. 3 defense. This led to them having an 11.1 net rating, which would rank them among some all-time great title-winning teams.

Doncic has been an underdog entering every series of his career outside this year’s first round, which means he thrives in these circumstances. In addition, Doncic is deadly on the road which is a wonderful antidote to not having home-court advantage in a single playoff series this season. He’s only had home court once in his playoff career (2022 first round).

Overcoming the Celtics would put Doncic on the fast track to becoming an all-time great, winning a championship at age 25 after already being named to five all-NBA teams in six seasons. The potential is endless for Doncic, but Jayson Tatum is eyeing a similarly rich history in the 2024 NBA Finals.
