WNBA star Cameron Brink shared her childhood experiences with NBA superstar Stephen Curry, who happens to be her godbrother. In an interview on Paul George’s ‘Podcast P’, Brink spoke about the positive energy that Curry brings to everyone’s lives and talked about some of her favorite childhood memories around Stephen Curry.

Brink: “Honestly, he’s like very much the same as he is now. There’s like this one story I remember, it stands out so much. I was with Sydel (Curry’s sister) in the pool in their North Carolina house. And like we were splashing water on him, and he like pretended to melt like the wicked witch of the West. He’s kind of like a theatre kid… He’s very theatrical and silly. He’s just always acting a fool and being silly. He’s just a joy. He’s just always so fun to be around. He’s taught me to just bring the joy to everything which we all know he just does a great job with. You always see him smiling, he’s laughing he’s joking. Life’s just a joy when you’re around him. And he sings Hamilton too… We’ve played more video games, like stupid stuff. We really should. I don’t even want to try him in horse. I’m just going to get mad. I’m competitive, but with him, I’m realistic, he’s going to whoop my a**.”

Brink clearly holds Stephen Curry in very high regard, and considering the close relationship they have together, that should come as no surprise. Curry and Brink’s families go way back, which is why they share such a close bond. Curry’s mom Sonya is actually Brink’s godmother.

Brink’s venture into the NBA only adds to the incredible family ties that Stephen Curry has with the sport of basketball. His father Dell Curry played in the NBA, as did his brother Seth Curry. Seth is married to Callie Rivers, who is the daughter of Milwaukee Bucks head coach Doc Rivers. And Stephen Curry’s sister Sydel is married to fellow NBA player Damion Lee, who played for the Warriors at one point.

Cameron Brink Has Already Made A Lot Of Connections In The NBA

In the same interview, Brink spoke about her interactions with Kawhi Leonard at a recent New Balance commercial shoot. Brink noted that Kawhi Leonard is one of the funniest people she has met, even though most people would not believe that due to his subdued public image.

Brink, who was drafted second overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft behind Caitlin Clark, had a phenomenal run in college basketball. During her 4-year stint at Stanford, she averaged 14 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 3.1 blocks per game. In her freshman year, she helped Stanford win their first NCAA championship in almost 30 years.

Brink is part of the 2024 WNBA Draft class that has been hailed as a historic one for the league. With incredible talents such as Clark, Brink, Kamila Cardoso, and Angel Reese, the WNBA is hoping that they can cause a surge in popularity for the league, just like they did for women’s college basketball over the last two years.

The WNBA has been a growing league for a few years, and with big names such as Candace Parker retiring from the sport, they will need the popularity that these new young stars will bring going into the next era of the league.
