Monday night saw the Los Angeles Sparks select Cameron Brink with the second pick of the 2024 WNBA Draft. Cheering her on after she got drafted was Golden State Warriors superstar Stephen Curry, who is her godbrother.

While Steph couldn’t be at the draft, which was held in New York, his mother and Brink’s godmother, Sonya, did attend.

This connection between the Curry’s and the Brink’s began at Virginia Tech. Steph’s parents, Sonya and Dell, and Cameron’s parents, Michelle Bain-Brink and Greg Brink, attended the college.

Sonya and Michelle were roommates while Dell and Greg were on the basketball team. From all the way back in the 1980s to today, the bond between the two families has remained strong. Michelle and Greg became godparents to Steph and his brother Seth while Sonya and Dell became godparents for Cameron and her brother Cy.

Cameron would visit the Curry family during holidays and it was during one such visit that she was convinced to attend Dell’s basketball camp. She wasn’t interested in sports at first, but things changed after she attended that camp and here we are now.

Following a stellar college career at Stanford, where she averaged 14.0 points, 9.1 rebounds, 1.7 assists, 0.7 steals, and 3.7 blocks per game, Brink has now been drafted even higher than Curry was. She even managed to win a national championship, unlike him and will have some bragging rights for the rest of her life.

Cameron Brink Hilariously Revealed That Seth Curry Hung Up On Her

After she was drafted, Brink was asked about that connection to the Curry’s and she hilariously revealed that Seth hung up on her.

“Right before I came here, I FaceTimed Steph with Sonya, my godmother, and my mom,” Brink said. “He was saying all these encouraging words, laughing with me, and then we FaceTime Seth and he hangs up immediately.”

It’s all love between the two though. Brink added that’s just the way Seth is and she loves both the brothers. It sure would be great for her to know that they would be there for her every step of the way in her basketball career.
