Sebastian Telfair believes basketball players get more women than athletes in any other sport. During an interview with Vlad TV, Telfair claimed he isn’t sure why, but does have a theory for it.
“Nobody got more chicks than the basketball players,” Telfair said. “Why or how or what’s — I don’t know. I don’t want to argue with nobody but no one got more chicks than the basketball players.”
“Maybe how our schedule is set up,” Telfair stated. “Just how the business is set up, you got a whole lot of time for the work, that’s the truth. Football, they talking about curfews and it’s a different business.”
“In basketball, ain’t none of that s***,” Telfair replied when asked about curfews during road games. “Zero. In the NBA they got none of that. Show up to practice on time and that’s it.”
(starts at 3:41 mark):
That’s an interesting explanation. I suppose when you’re on the road for almost half the year and there is no such thing as a curfew, then you have a lot of time to do whatever you want. It wouldn’t be surprising if a certain section of players used that free time to meet up with women.
Telfair almost certainly would have seen that happen a fair few times during his 10 seasons in the NBA. He came into the league straight out of high school in 2004 and was drafted by the Portland Trail Blazers with the 13th pick.
Despite being one of the best high school players of his time, Telfair didn’t have a lot of success in the NBA. He played for eight teams in those 10 seasons and finished with career averages of 7.4 points, 1.6 rebounds, 3.5 assists, and 0.7 steals per game.
Getting back to what these two were discussing here, DJ Vlad also mentioned during that exchange that basketball players show their faces during games unlike football players, who wear helmets. He thinks that plays a role too, and it might.
Sebastian Telfair Called Out NBA Wives
This was not the first time that Telfair sat down for an interview with DJ Vlad. During his last appearance, Telfair claimed NBA wives are gold diggers.
“When I got into the NBA and I was going to the meetings they were saying, seven out of ten players get divorced, now is nine out of ten players.”
“It’s the players, like, like dudes got to understand that pretty girl that’s on the side of you right now in that nice house, her energy will shift.”
“Nine out of 10. Kevin Garnett got a divorce. Shaq got a divorce. Michael Jordan got a divorce. So I wanna tell, this is for all the players. I’ll be the bad guy, I’ll be the one. Like, what Shorty saying next to us ain’t it.”
Telfair believes that LeBron James and Savannah James are one of the exceptions. He doesn’t want players to look at them and think it’s the norm because it is not.
Telfair’s ex-wife filed for divorce in 2019 citing irreconcilable differences, a few years after he last played a game in the league, so it’s not a surprise that he holds this view of NBA wives. He claimed he had discussions with the league on this matter as well to safeguard players, but it doesn’t appear as if any measures have been taken.
