Speaking on his self-titled podcast this week, Warriors star Draymond Green opened up on the controversial ejection that shook the basketball world. Instead of finding something to excuse his actions, Dray admitted that he needs to be better going forward.

“I got ejected four minutes into the game. I can’t do it, regardless of what was said. It just can’t happen. I said what I said, I deserved to be kicked out at that point,” said Green. “Kind of wish I would have turned my body and angled it and gone to the bench, but yeah it just can’t happen.”

It was quite a scene in Orlando on Wednesday when Draymond completely lost control mere minutes into the opening quarter. In a span of 35 seconds, Green earned two technicals and was promptly kicked from the game with a final stat line of 0 points and 3 rebounds.

Neither Stephen Curry nor Steve Kerr could hide their frustration in the moment and now some are starting to question if Green has learned anything after his indefinite suspension earlier this season forced him to spend some time away from the action.

The good news is that Draymond seems apologetic about what happened yesterday, but it’s hard to take him seriously with such an extensive history. At this point, the only way for Green to show his discipline will be to get out of trouble, and that’s exactly what the Warriors will need from him if they want to avoid utter disaster this season.

Dire Times For The Golden State Warriors

Draymond Green’s issues are not exclusive to this season and many of the demons he’s battling today are the same ones he faced years ago. And while finding a balance continues to be a struggle for him, he’s not the only one who is having a hard time right now.

At 10th in the West, the whole team has been plagued with problems from top to bottom and they have yet to find any long-term solutions.

As a multiple-time All-Star and a historic great shooter, Klay Thompson should be a savior for this squad. However, injuries and age have taken their toll, and he’s now coming off the bench for rookie Brandon Podziemski.

There’s also the situation with Andrew Wiggins. Besides having to leave twice in two seasons for “personal family reasons,” Wiggs has been bad when he’s available with averages of just 12.9 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game on 45% shooting.

Between all of these factors, and swirling questions about Steve Kerr’s rotations, it’s no wonder why the Warriors have been treading water for much of the season. But if they want to make the play-in, they will need to finish strong to prevent the Rockets from overtaking their spot.

Now more than ever, the Warriors are being tested and failure at this point could mean the end of this team as we know it.

But for now, while there is still hope for the season, the Warriors will keep on fighting and they will not stop until their last chance has been snuffed out. Hopefully, Draymond keeps himself together long enough to make a difference in the end.
