LeBron James has a lot of love and respect for former longtime Los Angeles Clippers announcer, Ralph Lawler. James recently took to Instagram to react to Lawler calling him the best player he had seen all the way back in 2010.

“Haggle or No Haggle” was a recurrent question asked during broadcasts by Lawler. He would put up a statement for himself and his colleague and if they haggled, it meant they disagreed with it. If they didn’t haggle, it meant they agreed. Lawler continues to do that today on X, but with fans being the ones asking him questions.
I’d Haggle with that. https://t.co/B3QGjT62DT

As for what Lawler had to say about LeBron at the time, you can check it out below.
“The best I’ve ever seen folks. Never seen anything like it. Not ever.”
The game in question here took place on January 31, 2010. LeBron had 23 points in the first quarter alone and ended the night with 32 points, 3 rebounds, 11 assists, and 1 steal, as the Cleveland Cavaliers won 114-89.
It was just one of the many memorable James performances that Lawler witnessed. He became the announcer for the Clippers when they moved from Buffalo to San Diego back in 1978. Lawler spent 41 years in his role, only retiring at the end of the 2018-19 season. In all that time, he had never seen a better player than LeBron.
Ralph Lawler Explained Why LeBron James Is The Best Ever
In case you’re wondering, Lawler hasn’t changed his stance from back then. In fact, he has almost gone a step beyond, as the former Clippers announcer stated LeBron is the GOAT over Michael Jordan and that it’s not even close.
“I made it clear in my book BINGO! 40 YEARS IN THE NBA and I will now repeat: ‘LeBron James is the Greatest player in NBA History.’ Did you see him single-handedly demolish New Orleans last night? I don’t even think the race for GOAT is close. And I have seen them All.”
Lawler posted that on X after James’ masterful performance in the In-Season Tournament semifinals against the New Orleans Pelicans. James had 30 points, 5 rebounds, and 8 assists that night, as the Los Angeles Lakers won 133-89. He got some pushback over that statement as fans brought up Jordan, but Lawler doubled down.
“I am not crazy. LeBron is the best there has ever been. He does more to help his teams win than anyone who has ever played the game. And, it is Not even Close. Add the length of his career without a fall-off in his talent level and it is not even worth discussing.”
James is currently in his 21st season in the NBA and is averaging 25.3 points, 7.1 rebounds, 8.0 assists, 1.3 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game. It is remarkable how there hasn’t been a fall-off in his level of play after all these years and earlier this month, LeBron became the first NBA player ever to get to 40,000 career points.
James is far from done too and who knows what his final points tally is going to look like. His statistical dominance along with his four titles, four Finals MVPs, and four MVPs are why many have started to believe that the 39-year-old is the greatest we have ever seen.
