Lakers coach Darvin Ham went viral this week after some fans discovered his assistant coaching papers in an old, abandoned storage unit. The seller, who listed the item on Facebook marketplace, admitted that they had no clue what the documents meant but it didn’t stop them from trying to make a quick buck.

“I bought a storage unit from an auction that just so happened to be Darvrin Ham who is also known as the coach of the Los Angeles Lakers,” wrote the seller.

The storage unit included a lot of official-looking paperwork, including playbooks, a photo ID of Ham, and detailed game plans for all 3-NBA teams.

While this information is no doubt out of date by now fans still couldn’t believe that Darvin would just leave all of his old coaching stuff just lying around like that.

On X, many haters had fun using the situation to poke fun at Davin and what was seemingly an honest mistake.

Many fans joked that the plays were practically worthless and that everyone was better off not looking at them at all.

Currently, Ham has yet to make an official comment on the find, nor has it been explained why his stuff was abandoned to be sold off at an auction. But considering the unit already has a new owner, Darvin is unlikely to pursue getting any of his old stuff back.

Instead, he will keep his focus on the Lakers, who continue to struggle to keep their heads above the water. Despite Ham’s best efforts to get the team locked in, they aren’t close to where they need to be right now the head coach is at the forefront of the blame.

Darvin Ham Is On The Hot Seat In Los Angeles

So far, Darvin Ham has expressed no concern over his job security and he’s confident that Jeanie Buss will keep him around for the long haul. But after last year’s dramatic campaign, Ham can scarcely afford another early playoff exit.

This summer, depending on how the West bracket shakes up, Ham could find his job in serious jeopardy. At 39 years old, LeBron James just doesn’t have time to wait on coaches to learn on the fly and Darvin is clearly still figuring things out as he goes.

To his credit, he’s kept the Lakers alive in the West playoffs so far and he did a good job last season of leading the second-half rally that saved their campaign. But amid more mediocrity in this campaign, and LeBron going out of his way to blow off his plays, there are some serious questions if Ham is the guy to lead this team.

Even the front office is expected to re-evaluate Ham’s position this summer and it signals that the pressure is higher than ever before for him to get results with this Lakers team.

As the playoffs approach, we will find out soon enough what Darvin is made of and if he’s capable of getting his guys to buy in and play the right way. Last year, we saw glimpses of what they could be but they’ll have to string together for two more rounds for it to count for anything.
