On Monday, Draymond Green finally spoke publicly for the first time since he was indefinitely suspended by the NBA in December. One of the topics Green addressed was Kevin Durant’s comments about him, which went viral on social media. Durant was asked about them, and he stated people need to understand the context.
“Before I had made those comments, they saying Draymond’s going to therapy and s***,” Durant said. “What I’m supposed to think? They say somebody going to therapy, I hope he gets better from that and hope he learns from whatever he feel like he needed to learn from going to therapy. That’s all I heard.”
Durant says he is happy to see Green back now and made it clear he meant no ill will.
“I’m glad he’s back, I’m glad he can move past that,” Durant continued. ” Draymond is an incredible teammate. He got his times where he loses his temper but everybody has those times… I didn’t mean no ill will about what I said. I know some people look at me as this malicious snake, passive-aggressive (guy). I know how people feel about me sometimes. So, when I say s*** I don’t mean no harm by nobody. I don’t mean to disrespect him or his family if they felt that way.”

If you hear that someone needs therapy, you’d probably also say that you hope they get the help they need. I don’t think he intended to hurt Green in any way by what he said, but because it’s him saying it, people try to read between the lines.
What Did Kevin Durant Say About Draymond Green?
The incident that led to the indefinite suspension came in the game between the Golden State Warriors and the Phoenix Suns on December 12. Durant missed the game due to an ankle injury and was presumably just as surprised as all of us when he saw Green hit Jusuf Nurkic in the face in the third quarter. A day later, Durant was asked about the incident and Draymond’s indefinite suspension.
“That was insane to see. Never seen that before in an NBA game. It’s incident after incident, I hope he gets the help he needs. He hasn’t been that way when I was around or coming into the league so I hope he gets the help he needs, get back on the court and put all this stuff behind him.”
Green was furious at first after hearing these comments, but a deeper look at himself and them changed his perspective. He doesn’t have an issue now with what his former teammate said and stated he no longer looks at the word “help” in a negative context.
Kevin Durant And The Suns Lost Again
Durant’s latest comments came following the Suns’ 138-111 blowout loss to the Los Angeles Clippers. The 35-year-old had 30 points, 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 1 block, but was unable to prevent the Suns from dropping to 19-18 on the season.
This defeat also made it back-to-back losses for Phoenix, and all members of their Big 3 played in both games. The Suns just have not impressed for large stretches of this season, and they do not look like title contenders at this point. An extended run of games together for their stars should help matters, but it’s hard to be optimistic about this team’s chances at this point.
