Ja Morant’s return to the NBA after a 25-game suspension was nothing short of spectacular, and his on-court performance was accompanied by some intense trash-talking, as revealed in leaked audio from the game against the New Orleans Pelicans. The Memphis Grizzlies point guard scored an impressive 34 points in a nail-biting 115-113 victory, hitting the game-winning shot with a signature spinning move.

“I do what I want.”

The leaked audio captures Morant engaging in banter with Pelicans forward Herb Jones during a free throw attempt. Jones had attempted to box out Morant, to which Morant confidently retorted back to the Pelicans star.

This assertive declaration was not a one-time occurrence, as Morant continued to verbally spar throughout the game, even after hitting the clutch shot over Jones.

Following the game-winning play, Morant exclaimed, “You know what time it is,” further emphasizing his dominance on the court. The victory proved crucial for the Grizzlies, breaking a five-game losing streak and improving their record to 7-19.

Morant’s comeback performance was historic, marking the best return from a suspension of at least 25 games in NBA history. His 34-point outing, combined with contributions from teammates Jaren Jackson and Desmond Bane, allowed the Grizzlies to overcome a 24-point deficit and a formidable 34-point performance from the Pelicans‘ Brandon Ingram.

Despite facing constant booing from the New Orleans crowd, Ja Morant remained unfazed, maintaining his aggressive playing style and trash-talking demeanor throughout the game. The leaked audio provides an intriguing behind-the-scenes glimpse into Morant’s on-court mentality, showcasing his confidence and competitive spirit.

The Grizzlies Have A Real Shot Of Getting Into The Playoffs

The Memphis Grizzlies are on the rise, and with Ja Morant’s explosive return to the court, they’ve ignited a spark that could propel them into playoff contention. Winning both games since Morant’s return, the Grizzlies are showcasing their potential as a formidable force in the league. The return of Marcus Smart from injury and the imminent comeback of Derrick Rose further bolster the team’s outlook.

While the Grizzlies currently find themselves in the 13th spot with an 8-19 record, the season is far from over. With 45 games left to play, there is ample opportunity for Memphis to climb up the standings. They are currently 5.5 games behind the 10th spot and 8 games behind the 6th spot, making a playoff berth within reach.

One key factor in the Grizzlies’ resurgence is the revitalization of their offense, which had struggled in Morant’s absence. His return brings a significant boost to their scoring capabilities. The young point guard has been instrumental in steering the team in the right direction.

To solidify their playoff aspirations, the Grizzlies must address their home record, which stands at 2-11—a far cry from their dominant performances at FedExForum in previous seasons. Establishing their home court as a fortress is crucial, especially considering their impressive 35-6 record at home last year, which was the second-best in the league.

With Morant leading the charge and key players returning from injury, the Grizzlies have the tools to make a serious playoff push. The remainder of the season holds promise for Memphis, and fans can anticipate an exciting journey as they strive to secure a coveted spot in the postseason.
