Saturday night has seen yet another installment of LeBron James vs. Dillon Brooks as the Los Angeles Lakers are taking on the Houston Rockets. In just the first quarter of the game, LeBron managed to connect on a tough and-one on Brooks and then proceeded to stare him down.

While LeBron has at times tried to shrug off the notion that there is a little bit of something between the two of them, he clearly relishes going at Brooks. All the trash-talking that the 27-year-old has done in recent times has painted a target on his back and James is going to try to give it to him every time they play each other.

NBA Fans Reacted To LeBron James’ Staredown On Dillon Brooks

The play and the staredown quickly went viral on social media. NBA fans on X reacted to it, with Brooks getting roasted, for the most part.

One mocked Brooks for letting LeBron score on him after calling him old.

A fan thinks LeBron loves clowning on Brooks.

One shared the Wilt Chamberlain graphic to describe what LeBron does when he faces Brooks.

One fan harshly called Brooks a clown and stated LeBron owns him.

LeBron really hates Brooks, a fan believes.

While hate might be too strong of a word, LeBron certainly did get annoyed by the antics. Brooks poked the bear and while he always maintains he doesn’t regret it, a part of him deep down maybe does.

Rui Hachimura Slammed Dillon Brooks For His Antics

Many have speculated why Brooks constantly takes shots at LeBron despite getting embarrassed a few times and Rui Hachimura has a theory regarding it. Hachimura slammed Brooks for poking the bear in James and says he wants to be a part of his legacy.

“I don’t know what’s the beef between those two guys,” Hachimura said. “I know they’ve been doing it for a while, especially last year in the playoffs. They have things going on. For Bron, it’s nothing… Dillon Brooks, he wants to be a part of his legacy, I guess.”

While I don’t believe that is the reason, you can’t blame someone for thinking along those lines. Brooks might have just done enough to earn himself a segment on a LeBron documentary that is inevitably going to come out at some point in the future.

The only people who would have normally remembered who Brooks was 20-30 years down the road would have hardcore basketball fans. Now if his name gets associated with LeBron’s, he’ll be remembered by many for quite some time.

Hachimura made those comments after the second meeting between the Rockets and the Lakers this season. In that game, LeBron had also done the “too small” celebration on Brooks after scoring on him.

While staring down opponents is something James does from time to time, I don’t think I’d ever seen him pull out this celebration. The Lakers would go on to win that game 105-104 to level up the season series at 1-1 and they seem set to get another one here.

L.A. was up 60-44 at the half, with LeBron putting up 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 assists, and a block while shooting 6-11 from the field. The Lakers have managed to keep the Rockets at arm’s length in the third quarter as well and unless they shockingly collapse from here, should get a rather comfortable win.
