Chris Paul has come under fire after he lunged at Mike Conley’s legs during the game between the Golden State Warriors and the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday night.

While you ideally wouldn’t want to accuse someone of making a dirty play, that is as blatant as it gets from Paul. You get diving for the loose ball, but there was no reason for that lunge afterward, and he could have caused some serious damage to Conley.

Bizarrely enough, Conley ended up being called for a foul here to add insult to injury. NBA fans were not happy with Paul for this dirty play, as you can imagine, and he got blasted by them.

One said Paul has been the dirtiest player for a while now.

A fan wants Paul to be suspended.

He should be suspended for that.

One fan wonders how Paul has gotten a pass all these years for being so dirty.

I don't know why he gets a pass for doing stuff like this. He's been doing stuff like this his whole career and people still love him.

A fan is praying Paul never wins a ring.

At this point all we can do is pray he never wins a ring

— emann (@animeemann) November 13, 2023

This could have ended Conley’s career, a fan thought.

Boy … a move like that could end someone’s career 😔

— Ed Pattermann (@33elvis_forever) November 13, 2023

While doing this to anyone would be terrible, doing it to Conley is just that little bit worse. He might just be the nicest man in the league, having won the NBA Sportsmanship Award four times, which is a record.

Patrick Beverley Called Chris Paul The Dirtiest Player In The NBA

Many fans believe that Paul is the dirtiest player in the NBA and that’s something Patrick Beverley agrees with as well. Earlier this year, Beverley called Paul the dirtiest player in the NBA.

“Chris Paul. It’s a shock when you say it in front of people not in the basketball world, but when you say it in front of like basketball players and referees, even referees, ‘Okay, yeah, that doesn’t surprise me’. You go for a layup, push from the back. You go for a loose ball, grab on your knee. I would never grab another player’s knee.”

Casual basketball fans might have a hard time believing it, but if you’ve followed the league even a little bit closely, you’d know Paul is a very dirty player. Whether he is the dirtiest is up for debate but it wasn’t surprising Beverley picked him. These two have beefed for years at this point and will continue to do so for the rest of their careers.

Chris Paul’s Season So Far With The Warriors

There were many questions regarding the fit when the Warriors traded for Paul, and his time with the team so far has been a bit of a mixed bag. The 38-year-old is averaging 8.2 points, 3.6 rebounds, 7.3 assists, and 1.5 steals per game so far this season.

His playmaking has been as great as always and he’s ensuring the offense doesn’t collapse when Stephen Curry is off the court. At the same time, though, he has really struggled with his shot, as Paul is shooting just 36.8% from the field and 16.2% from beyond the arc.

Against the Timberwolves, the 12-time All-Star scored just two points in over 21 minutes and both of those came from the line, as he went 0-3 from the field. The Warriors don’t rely on him to be a scorer, but he’s got to be better than this when he gets the chance.

They already have Draymond Green who can be rather ineffective as a scorer and you can’t have both of them on the court together in the big moments if this keeps up.
