We recently saw the Los Angeles Lakers face off against the Phoenix Suns, with the matchup being notable because it featured LeBron James and Kevin Durant facing off against one another for the first time in a competitive setting since 2018. The Lakers ended up getting the victory, 100-95, with James playing a huge role in closing the game out in the fourth quarter.
After the game, we saw James and Durant show respect to one another, and it is clear that the superstars enjoyed facing off against one another.

There is no doubt that it is always good to see opponents show respect to one another. Durant had a fantastic night, finishing with 39 points, 11 rebounds, and 2 assists per game, and he had to go all out since his co-stars Devin Booker and Bradley Beal were unavailable. James ended up with 21 points, 8 rebounds, and 9 assists, hitting some big shots in the fourth quarter.
Fans are likely heavily anticipating the next matchup between the two superstars. We will see how well both do next time, and it will be interesting to see how the teams stack up against one another fully healthy.
Kevin Durant Is Planning To Limit Load Management
We have seen Durant miss a good number of games over the course of the last few seasons, dealing with one injury or another. Despite that, it seems as though Durant does not plan to engage in load management.
“Some sh*t is going to happen, it’s going to happen,” said Durant. “You try to prevent me from being injured or being out there, I honestly don’t know what good that does. Just let me play. Whatever happens happens and just trust that we’ll figure it out from there. If we do what we have to do on the floor every night, guys won’t have to play 40 minutes a night. We just go to be ready to play.”
Hopefully, we see Durant have an extremely healthy season this year. The league is much better when Durant is healthy and hooping, and it would be amazing to see him go for the MVP award.
LeBron James And Kevin Durant Could End Up Facing Each Other In Western Conference Finals
Both the Lakers and the Suns are contenders in the Western Conference, and it is quite possible that we will see James and Durant face off against one another in the Conference Finals. Obviously, it is too early to speculate about that right now, but it is certainly a possibility.
The two teams will need to do their due diligence and develop chemistry and gel throughout the season. Talent doesn’t always mean a team will win the championship, and chemistry is clearly an important factor for winning teams.
Another playoff matchup between James and Durant would certainly be special. We have seen the two face off plenty of times during their respective primes, and one last matchup in the latter stages of their career would be absolutely amazing to watch for fans.
