The first clip is from the Lakers’ most recent pre-season game against the Golden State Warriors, where he played in the first half before taking a break in the second. Yet, somehow, he made some time to acknowledge his fans who he probably couldn’t even see. Whether you love or hate LeBron, this serves as the latest example of his humility and how he refuses to take his supporters for granted.
LeBron James Appreciates The Fans
Looking back at the “decision” and his retirement tease this past summer, it’s undeniable that LeBron has made some PR mistakes over the years. But when it comes to being a role model for the next generation, and a representative of the league, James is surprisingly clean compared to other stars of his caliber. Over his 20+ years of experience, LeBron doesn’t have any major scandals to his name and he constantly resists the urge to combat his critics on social media or any public forum.
But since James was drafted in 2003, he’s always had a special appreciation for the fans and he tries to give them a show every time he’s on the court. Heading into this season, which could be his last, one has to wonder if he’ll be trying extra hard to give the people one last show before it’s all said and done. While much is still unknown at this point, we know that LeBron will be ready to play either way and that his goals of winning a title remain unchanged despite approaching his 39th birthday.
LeBron Is Preparing For His 21st Season
James’ longevity is already in unprecedented territory. After two decades of dominance in the league, most experts thought that he’d be on the decline by now. Instead, he’s feeling confident after coming off one of his best seasons yet as a Laker, with a stat line of 28.9 points, 8.3 rebounds, and 6.8 assists per game on 50% shooting.
Last week, Darvin Ham confirmed that the team will be taking a cautious approach with James, and we can expect to see some form of load management from him throughout the season. But if he can stay healthy, and maintain his performance from a year ago, it could lead to favorable results for the Purple and Gold. At the very least, James will be able to compete for a title again alongside Anthony Davis, Austin Reaves, D’Angelo Russell, and a whole supporting cast of talented veterans. Now, with expectations at an all-time high for the Lake Show, the pressure will be on (as always) for LeBron to deliver another masterful campaign but, he hasn’t let us down so far, and there’s no reason to think he’ll start now.
