  • The individual challenged Jones to a 1-on-1 game
  • Jones used some colorful language during their interactions

Kai Jones really can’t stay out of the spotlight it appears, with his NSFW DMs with a fan now having gone viral. The individual leaked the DMs in which Jones can be seen using some rather offensive language.

The fan shared their entire conversation later, and it really does seem like he was trying to bait Jones into it. Fair warning, expect to see some more offensive language.

Jones does not seem to have taken too kindly to these being released, as the individual stated that the Charlotte Hornets big man blocked him. I wouldn’t blame him for being upset over that, but that kind of language really isn’t ideal. I don’t think the NBA is going to take any kind of action against him, but you never know.

NBA Fans Reacted To These NSFW DMs

Unsurprisingly, these leaked DMs were of great interest to NBA fans. There was a wide variety of reactions to it, with some being concerned while others found it hilarious.

One fan is tired of the nonsense.

A fan thinks Jones won’t be on the team much longer if he keeps this up.

One fan says Jones provides great entertainment with his antics and should be kept in the NBA anyhow.

Jones was compared to Antonio Brown, the controversial former NFL wide receiver, by a fan.

One fan wants Jones’ phone taken away from him.

Someone should probably take away the phone but if they haven’t so far, it’s not going to happen now. Jones is really doing himself no favors with these kinds of antics, and you do wonder what has gotten into him this offseason.

Kai Jones’ Wild Offseason

All of this really kicked off after Jones was accused of being high on drugs in a controversial Instagram Live. He denied that being the case, but all his Hornets teammates then unfollowed Jones.

The 22-year-old did not take it too well and Jones called out his teammates for unfollowing him. As if all that wasn’t enough, Jones bizarrely claimed he could beat LeBron James and Shaquille O’Neal in a 1-on-1 game later on.

He added that he is better than teammates LaMelo Ball and Brandon Miller and also claimed he hits the mid-range shot better than Michael Jordan. The Hornets are understandably concerned over all of this and his future with the franchise now seems to be murky, as per Roderick Boone of The Charlotte Observer.

“Jones hasn’t participated in any of the players’ optional sessions and it’s unclear if he’ll be among the Hornets’ contingent to hit the floor for the start of training camp next Tuesday,” Boone wrote.

It is, of course, optional, but spending your team doing crazy things on social media instead of coming in for optional training sessions isn’t a good look. Some more time on the practice court certainly would help him, as he only averaged 3.4 points, 2.7 rebounds, 0.3 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.7 blocks per game in the 2022-23 season.

Teams will tolerate a player who causes distractions if they are great, but Jones clearly isn’t that good, at this point in his career. It wouldn’t be a surprise if he is let go, and we’ll get a better understanding of the situation when training camp begins.
