  • It cost Jimmy Butler $145.28 to fill up his car’s gas tank
  • Butler was stunned by just how expensive that was
  • The Heat star joked he’s switching to electric cars

Just like all of us, Jimmy Butler was left shaking his head due to the exorbitant gas prices. As Butler filled up his car’s gas tank recently, he watched in shock at having to pay $145.28 for it.

“This is highway f**king robbery,” Butler said. “Man, I’m trying to give some of this gas back. Wow. Hey, you think if I go in there and tell them that I put the wrong gas in here, they’ll give a refund? This is crazy, I’m going electric. Can y’all believe it costs $145 to fill up a Bugatti? This is crazy… unheard of, man.”

All that was extremely relatable, until Butler brought up the Bugatti, which then made it not very relatable. While the 34-year-old has every right to complain about the prices, he isn’t exactly averse to charging exorbitant rates himself.

Butler hilariously refused a kid’s request to lower the price of his $20 coffee and instead said he’d charge her $25 and her father $50. If you think those are some high rates, the six-time All-Star had revealed that a $100 cup is coming at some point.

Butler had also organized a camp where it’d cost $699 to play him 1-on-1. So, you might find some irony in him complaining about prices.

Jimmy Butler’s Net Worth

Against all odds, Butler has had a terrific NBA career. He wasn’t supposed to amount to much, having been selected with the 30th pick of the 2011 NBA Draft. Butler’s first two seasons gave no indication that he was going to be a star either, but his game improved leaps and bounds as time went on.

In his fourth season, he became an All-Star and is now regarded as one of the best players in the league. Butler’s exploits have netted him $218 million in salaries so far and by the time his current deal expires, he’d have earned $364 million.

His net worth as per various sources now stands at an impressive $80 million and with his “Big Face Coffee” brand growing in popularity, that number is going to go up a fair bit in the years to come.

Will Jimmy Butler Finally Succeed In His Quest To Win A Title In 2023-24?

When we talk about the stars who have failed to win a title, it’s often attributed to them failing to up their game in the postseason, with James Harden being the prime example. Butler is a different case, of course, as he is arguably the greatest playoff riser of this generation, but hasn’t gotten over the line and won that championship yet.

He has had some incredible playoff runs but has ended up just short of winning the ultimate prize. In the 2023 postseason, Butler averaged 26.9 points, 6.5 rebounds, 5.9 assists, 1.8 steals, and 0.6 blocks per game, but the Miami Heat lost in the NBA Finals to the Denver Nuggets.

It was his second Finals defeat in four seasons, and time is starting to run out as he enters his mid-30s. The Heat are certainly going to be contenders for the championship in 2023-24, but unless they make a big move, I think they’ll ultimately fall just short once again.

That move was supposed to be a trade for Damian Lillard, but it doesn’t look all that likely that it will happen, at this point.
