Singer Teyana Taylor took to Instagram to reveal that she and her husband, former NBA Champion Iman Shumpert, have separated after seven years of marriage. Taylor and Shumpert have two children together and have been separated for an undisclosed period of time, according to the singer herself.

“AHT AHT! Not too much on my bestie! In all fairness, Iman and I are separated and have been for a while.”

The pair were a high-profile couple, given Taylor’s success as a singer and Shumpert’s NBA history, along with his appearances on reality shows like ‘Dancing With The Stars’. Taylor has a passionate fanbase and is incredibly talented. We hope that the children are well taken care of and can continue to grow up in a loving household.

Teyana Taylor Reveals If Iman Shumpert Cheated On Her

The internet has been speculating about Shumpert cheating on Taylor being the reason behind the split. In the Instagram post where she revealed that the pair are currently separated, she reiterated that it isn’t because Shumpert cheated on her.

“To be 1000% clear, “infidelity” ain’t one of the reasons for our departure. We are still the best of friends, great business partners, and are one hell of a team when it comes to co-parenting our 2 beautiful children. Most importantly we are FAMILY & in the 10 years together, 7 years married we ain’t ever played with or about THAT. We just keep y’all asses out of the group chat lol, which is the reason we’ve been able to successfully & peacefully separate without all of the outside noise. The only reason I’m even sharing THIS part of the chat is because the narratives are getting a little out of hand & it’s unfair to all parties involved. I hope this provided some clarity for y’all.”

The pair have been living out their relationship in the public spotlight and that had to have taken a toll on both of them. Separation doesn’t necessarily mean the end of a relationship, so it’ll be interesting to see if the pair get back together or move forward with finalizing a divorce.

Iman Shumpert Had A 10-Year Playing Career

Shumpert played 10 seasons in the NBA as a role-player and has career averages of 7.2 points and 3.3 rebounds. He was the 17th pick in the 2011 Draft, entering the league alongside modern greats such as Kawhi Leonard, Klay Thompson, and Kyrie Irving. He joined the Knicks and spent the first four seasons of his career there, perfecting his craft as a two-way 3-and-D player.

Shumpert joined the Cleveland Cavaliers midway through the 2014-15 season, LeBron James’ first year back on the franchise. He joined with J.R. Smith but was traded to the Sacramento Kings before the 2018 Playoffs. He soon fizzled out of the league, playing with the Rockets and Nets in a very limited capacity and retiring from the league after 2021.

Shumpert became an NBA Champion in 2016 with the Cavaliers, averaging 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds through that playoff run. His contributions to one of the most iconic teams of the 2010s will not be forgotten. His skill-set never gave him a big role in his playing career but he did make the most of his NBA career.
