  • A clip of Bobby Portis and Jamie Calloway Jr. playing 1-on-1 went viral
  • Calloway scored against Portis multiple times and talked trash to him as well
  • Calloway currently plays in the semi-professional ABA

Bobby Portis faced off against semi-professional basketball player Jamie Calloway Jr. in a 1-on-1 game, and the latter managed to more than hold his own. Calloway scored on Portis multiple times, and a short clip of the game recently went viral on social media.

We have seen multiple occasions this offseason of NBA players showing in their camps just how much better they are than the average fan. Andre Drummond viciously dunked on a fan who had paid $300 to play him in a 1-on-1 game. The fan thought he had a chance to beat Drummond, but he didn’t.

A semi-pro, though, is a whole other animal, as it takes a fair bit of talent to make it even that far. Calloway showed that here, as he was giving Portis the business.

NBA Fans Reacted To The Viral Clip

Fans, of course, didn’t know who Calloway was. They were stunned that this individual was able to score on an NBA veteran like Portis and proceeded to clown on the 28-year-old.

One thinks Portis is now washed.

A fan joked that it’s no surprise that Team USA didn’t win a medal, as Portis was on the roster.

One claimed that he could score on Portis too.

Giannis Antetokounmpo will request a trade after watching this, a fan joked.

A fan thought Portis was shaken after Calloway scored on him.

This game actually took place well over a month ago, so the timing of this going viral certainly isn’t very kind to Portis. He just finished averaging 7.9 points, 4.4 rebounds, and 0.9 steals per game for Team USA as they failed to even win a medal at the 2023 FIBA World Cup.

Also, while this clip shows Calloway giving him the business, it doesn’t tell the whole story. It appears as if Portis did eventually come out on top in the game.

With all that being said, this was still a very impressive display from Calloway. He played for Wyoming Valley Clutch in the semi-professional ABA last season and is hoping to make it to the NBA someday.

He clearly has talent but is in his 30s now, and it doesn’t look like he’ll get a chance. Calloway has actually worked out with multiple teams, but no one has given him a shot so far.

The 2023-24 Season Is A Pivotal One For Portis And The Bucks

Portis had a pretty good 2022-23 season with the Milwaukee Bucks, averaging 14.1 points, 9.6 rebounds, 1.5 assists, 0.4 steals, and 0.2 blocks per game. Despite that, he and the Bucks in general have been up on notice by Giannis Antetokounmpo.

Giannis said he won’t re-sign with the Bucks if everyone isn’t on the same page. He wants to see the same kind of sacrifices he makes from his teammates, and if he doesn’t see it, then Antetokounmpo doesn’t want to stick around.

It was a clear message to everyone on the team that the time has come to step up and deliver. Giannis wants to win another championship, and he wouldn’t hesitate to leave the Bucks for it.
