• Tyler Herro has been rumored to be traded for Damian Lillard all summer long

• Herro is the best trade asset that the Miami Heat have

• The 24-year-old guard is not pleased with the offseason in Miami

Tyler Herro has been trying to enjoy his summer the best he can, but constant trade rumors linking Herro to a Damian Lillard trade have weighed on him. Sports Illustrated’s Chris Mannix said that Herro hasn’t enjoyed being thrown into trades all summer.

“I know—I’m fairly certain about this, Tyler Herro has not been pleased by all that’s gone on in Miami this offseason. How he’s been bandied about as filler in trade talks… He has not been happy with how his name has been tossed around in all these trade talks.”

Herro averaged 20.1 points, 5.4 rebounds, and 4.2 assists last regular season before being ruled out of the postseason during Game 1 of the Heat’s first-round series. They made a run to the Finals without Herro and are trying to cash in his value for a significant upgrade at guard.

Tyler Herro’s Value Is Low

Tyler Herro isn’t going to be regarded as the young prospect that he is. Everyone in the NBA knows that the Heat will do anything to get future assets that help them land Damian Lillard.

A 20-point scorer like Herro, with his age and postseason experience, should be fetching a very strong package. Unfortunately for the Heat, no team has been knocking on their door for Herro. The former 13th overall pick sitting on the sidelines as his roster made a Finals run without him has hurt his stock, as it doesn’t look like he’s the game-changing talent most franchises look for.

Unless the Heat can get one or two unprotected first-round picks, there’s no chance they see any upside in moving Herro. That’s bad for Herro because he likely has to stick with the Heat until they send him away eventually.

Will The Heat Land Damian Lillard?

Everything that the Heat have been doing, they’ve been doing to try and get Damian Lillard on the franchise. It’s a very messy trade saga that’s been dragging on for the last two months. What we know for sure is that Lillard only wants to join the Miami Heat, but the Blazers are wholly uninterested in the trade package that Miami has to offer.

When a star player agitates for a move away from a franchise, he usually gets it. But with Lillard having four more years on his contract, the Blazers won’t want to give one of the best point guards in the league away for nothing. Teams that could have a strong offer for Lillard, like the Jazz and Nets, haven’t even gotten a chance to approach a possible deal.

Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists last season, which shows why the Heat want him so badly. He would transform their offense and create a big three with Jimmy Butler and Bam Adebayo, possibly bringing another championship to South Beach.
