  • Zion Williamson is working on preparing his body for the NBA season
  • Pelicans insider Will Guillory revealed that he heard “good things” about the forward
  • Zion Williamson only averages 28.5 games per season since entering the league

Power forward Zion Williamson is clearly a top-tier talent when he’s fully healthy, and he is clearly among the most dominant players near the rim. He is generally viewed as the best player on the New Orleans Pelicans and is their best hope of winning a championship going forward.

As of right now, Zion Williamson’s biggest issue in the league has been health. As of right now, Zion Williamson is only averaging 28.5 games per season since entering the NBA, and that is clearly not enough, as he is never healthy when the Pelicans are trying to make a playoff run. Recently, Pelicans insider Will Guillory revealed that Zion Williamson’s goal this offseason has been his durability, as he is ensuring that he is “prepared for a long season”.

“Been hearing good things about the work Zion’s putting in this summer. Was told he’s been really focused on making sure his body is prepared for a long season. Think he’s gonna come in with a chip on his shoulder.”

There is no doubt that this is what everyone wants from Zion Williamson. The talent, production, and ability have never been an issue for the forward: his health and durability have. Hopefully, we see him play a full season with the Pelicans next year.

This past season, Zion Williamson averaged 26.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, and 4.6 assists per game while shooting 60.8% from the field. If he can play like this for a whole season, he will clearly be an All-NBA player, and we’ll see what happens in the future.

Some People Believe That Zion Williamson’s Problems Are Mental

Though a lot of people have pointed to Zion Williamson’s weight as a problem for the star, there are some who believe his issues have more to do with his mentality. In fact, Kevin Garnett definitely believes Zion Williamson’s problems are mental.

“You said it was a hamstring issue, windmill that motherf***er, I’m like damn, ‘You good enough to play something or give us something.’ He don’t feel like he’s Zion. That was more mental to me or at least, the mental flags went up.”

It is fair for a player to want to feel “right” before stepping on the court. Zion Williamson clearly already has injury issues, so it makes sense for him to wait, so as to not aggravate any lingering issues. Hopefully, we see him remain healthy next season and show that he can consistently be a star in the league.

Zion Williamson Is Hyped To Play With Brandon Ingram And CJ McCollum

The New Orleans Pelicans clearly have a talented team right now, and they have surrounding Zion Williamson with Brandon Ingram and CJ McCollum. In fact, Williamson revealed that he’s hyped to be part of a “big 3” with Ingram and McCollum. There is no doubt that the trio is talented, and has a high ceiling.

With that being said, the key for the New Orleans Pelicans is for them to be able to stay on the court. Williamson only played 29 games last season, while Ingram only played 45 games. If they each can play 65 or more games, there’s no doubt that the Pelicans can be a competitive team.
