Beverley is known for his blunt takes on the league. The 35-year-old claimed that Edwards is bound to leave the Timberwolves at some point in the future.

“He will get out of Minnesota,” Beverley said. “That’s what just happens. And that’s no disrespect to Minnesota. It’s just with that personality, he can change the world with basketball. Again, I played in Minnesota. There’s no diss on Minnesota, no diss on small market teams, but he is the type of player that you need to see him.

He added: “And there’s no way Minnesota should have nine or ten TV games right now. So all the work he’s putting in right now, it looks different when you get to see it than like go through an app to get it. It’s different when you got 30 games on TV, you get to see that s**t every night.”

Pat Bev expects Ant to eventually leave Minnesota

Beverley did mention that he was not taking a shot at the Timberwolves for being a small-market team. But that’s not how the organization’s fanbase perceived his comments. In fact, Beverley’s comments drew some very angry reactions from fans.

A few fans called Beverley a weirdo.

Anthony Edwards had a breakout 2022-23 season. He averaged 24.6 points, 5.8 rebounds, and 4.4 assists per game. Ant also earned his first NBA All-Star appearance.

It goes without saying that good things await for the 22-year-old in the NBA. It’s only a matter of where. Will he stay with the Timberwolves or join a big-market team? Only time will tell.

Patrick Beverley Says Anthony Edwards Reminds Him Of Michael Jordan

Michael Jordan is the greatest basketball player of all time for the majority of the NBA community. Jordan’s greatness is yet to be repeated in the league. Kobe Bryant was closest to ‘His Airness’ in terms of playing style.

According to Patrick Beverley, Anthony Edwards has what it takes to be the next Michael Jordan, in more than one way.

“I was expecting people to call me crazy, and I told them, he could be the next Michael Jordan,” he said last season.

It has been a long-running joke in the NBA community that Edwards is a long-lost son of Jordan. After all, in short hair Edwards looks remarkably similar to Jordan.

Anthony Edwards Reveals He’s Chasing Michael Jordan

Many players have tried to chase the ghost of Michael Jordan, but rarely anyone has succeeded. Could Anthony Edwards be a part of those handful of players? Edwards revealed in a previous interview that he is chasing Jordan.

“I’m chasing my boy M.J., for sure,” Edwards said. “It’ll be hard, but I’m chasing him.”

As Edwards mentioned, it won’t be easy to reach the level of Jordan. So far, the 22-year-old has only gotten better with each passing season and many expect him to have a phenomenal 2023-24 campaign.

Edwards himself is targeting to become the MVP in the upcoming season. The Timberwolves star is full of confidence and it’s great to see that in a young player. Looking at his growth in the past, he may actually deliver on that promise.
