• Deandre Ayton took a subtle shot at the teammates he’s had on the Phoenix Suns
• While playing for the Bahamas national team, Ayton said these are the best teammates he’s ever had
• Ayton has been in trade rumors since February 2022
Deandre Ayton has been having a wonderful summer, helping the Bahamas national team further their bid for an inaugural Olympics appearance next season. While playing with his national teammates, Ayton made a comment about how they’re the best teammates he’s ever had.
“The best teammates I’ve ever been around, on and off the court. Just understanding how it feels to fight for your country and everybody on the same mission. It was a phenomenal feeling. Seeing how much emotion was coming into this game and just having each other’s back and being together.”
This seems like a shot at Kevin Durant, Devin Booker, and former teammates on the Phoenix Suns. He’s played alongside Booker his entire career and spent half a season with Kevin Durant last year. Ignoring them as teammates to hype up his teammates on the Bahamas nation team is odd.

Ayton did drop a saying Monty Williams used often by saying the team never wanted to get ‘too happy on the farm’ on the defensive end.
Even if Ayton’s Suns’ tenure has been rocky, especially his relationship with Monty, it’s clear he’s learned a lot and is using that experience for the Bahamas national team, playing alongside Eric Gordon and Buddy Hield.
Playing alongside Kevin Durant and Devin Booker is a far more high-pressure situation, especially next season, as the Suns hope to bring home the title as soon as possible.
Deandre Ayton May Get Traded Soon
Ever since he was extension eligible in the summer of 2021, fans have been wondering when Ayton will get moved. Even when the Indiana Pacers signed him to an offer sheet last summer, the Suns made sure they kept him around.
Despite their unwillingness to trade Ayton, he’s often been the center of trade talks for the team.
The Suns and Mavericks reportedly had extensive conversations around an Ayton trade this summer, with the Mavericks having players like Tim Hardaway Jr. and Christian Wood, who can still be moved to Phoenix.
The Warriors also have been linked at times, as Ayton has the perfect skill set for what Golden State seeks to achieve on the court.
He averaged 18.0 points and 10.0 rebounds last season for the Suns but will be under immense pressure to deliver this season, as the team went all-in by acquiring Bradley Beal.
