- Gilbert Arenas was asked if he’d take earning $50 million fewer over his career if it meant he got a ring
- Arenas strongly stated he wouldn’t make that trade
- Arenas had a hilarious explanation for it
Some NBA players might be willing to give up anything to get a ring, but Gilbert Arenas wouldn’t part with $50 million for it. During an episode of Gil’s Arena, the three-time All-Star had a hilarious reaction when asked if would trade his $171 million career earnings for $120 million and a ring.
“$50 million for a ring? F*** no,” Arenas said. “The f***s wrong with you? You’re crazy as hell… They sell that mother****** for 10 grand.”
Arenas joked that he can find rings for sale online, but no one is out there selling money.
“I can go buy NBA rings right now on sale from players who won but because they weren’t the best player that was on that team, they got to sell that ring for this thing called money,” Arenas continued. “I’ve never seen a n**** selling $300 million.”
Gil was asked “Would you trade $50M for a ring”

It really just comes down to what you desire the most as a player. For some, winning that ring is the most important thing, and it gives them a sense of fulfillment.
For others, money does buy happiness and a ring isn’t worth giving up millions of dollars, as is the case for the 41-year-old Arenas. It’s hard to criticize someone for it, as ultimately, it’s what brings them happiness.
Gilbert Arenas Would Rather Have James Harden’s Career Over Robert Horry’s
This whole debate on that episode began over a discussion involving James Harden and Robert Horry.
Harden has earned just over $300 million in his career but hasn’t won a ring, while Robert Horry earned $54 million and won seven rings.
Arenas said he’d take $300 million over $54 million and seven rings as if you only earn that much after winning those rings, it means you were never the main man.
Horry fired back at Arenas and called him an idiot for those comments. The former Laker certainly values his rings a lot, as Horry once stated he’d rather have his seven rings than be in the Hall of Fame.
It is a great example here of people having different perspectives.
