  • After the game, Steve Kerr defined his role on the team as being ‘the guy.’
  • Anthony Edwards is showing every sign that he is taking the next step to becoming a superstar

Anthony Edwards has been the name on everyone’s lips this offseason, as he continues to dazzle while other stars aren’t playing basketball. The Minnesota Timberwolves youngster dropped 34 points for Team USA in their latest exhibition win and has earned big praise from his coach, Steve Kerr.

After his big night, Steve Kerr was asked what Anthony Edwards’ role on Team USA is and he answered simply. Kerr said, “He’s unquestionably, the guy.”

Jalen Brunson has been dubbed by many, including Edwards himself, to be the leader of the team. But Anthony Edwards has made himself the main man with his performances, having scored a combined 55 points in Team USA’s last two wins.

Anthony Edwards promised to score points in the lead-up to this tournament, and he is bettering himself every game. The FIBA 2023 World Cup opener is now merely a few days away, with Team USA taking on New Zealand on August 26th. That will be Edwards’ next opportunity to truly impress.

Anthony Edwards Is Currently The Golden Boy Of The NBA

A lot of NBA players can tell if a player is about to become big or special, and it seems that many stars are getting that feeling with Anthony Edwards at this time. LeBron James was among those to congratulate and praise Edwards for his big performance on social media.

He is being dubbed the next face of the NBA, but all of this chatter will die down if he cannot continue these performances when the tournament begins. Team USA don’t have their biggest stars, and while their opponents are missing some big names, too, Luka Doncic and Slovenia will be among the contenders.

Anthony Edwards is gaining a lot of love from NBA circles at the minute and it feels like he can do no wrong. How this will manifest itself and impact his career remains to be seen, but he should make the most of it while he is in the limelight and strive not to lose it.
