Kevin Garnett was widely regarded as one of the greatest trash-talkers of his time, and proving it right was his Boston Celtics teammate Kendrick Perkins

Perkins revealed how Garnett had a penchant for coming up with ridiculous lines while trash-talking his opponents. Speaking on Patrick Beverley’s The Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, the big man had a few funny instances.

“Nobody could out-talk KG. One time… I forgot who we was playing, and when we went on the court, the game was about to start. He like grabbed somebody’s jersey, like before the jump ball, and was like ‘Who is this? I don’t even know your name.’ That’s the ultimate disrespect.”

“Like one time, I can’t think of how he thinks of this s***t. One time he went on and took like a, you know how you take your finger, and you dip it in icing and taste it?  And he like swiped his finger on the back of somebody’s jersey. And he was like, ‘This m*****f****r, he’s sweet!”

This had Rone and Beverley in splits. And while it does seem mighty ludicrous that Garnett, one of the greatest power forwards the league has seen, could come up with trash lines to psyche out of his opponents.

Garnett’s trash talk was relentless, and it wasn’t limited to one person. He made it a point to get into their heads, and that, coupled with his brilliant skills, made him a nightmare to go up against. He had a lasting impact on the game with his words as well.

Even Kendrick Perkins Received A Generous Dose Of Kevin Garnett’s Trash-Talk

They may have won the NBA championship together on the Boston Celtics in 2008, but Kendrick Perkins and Kevin Garnett didn’t get off on the right foot.

Perkins looked up to ‘The Big Ticket’ before he came into the league in 2003 when Garnett was with the Minnesota Timberwolves

But according to the story that Garnett told on All The Smoke, the infatuation didn’t last too long after what he said to the big man during their matchup.

“I was like, ‘Why this hothead a** coming, like this garbage a** n****. N****, you’re trash, like who is this?’ Knowing that you’re coming out of high school, knowing that you’re looking up to me but I’m like, ‘I don’t give a f**k who you is. Who? Kendrick Who? Nobody.’ I gave him 12 (points) like real quick like, ‘Y’all better get this nobody off me out here.’”

That had to sting, and Perkins responded, earning the former’s respect. The two had their riff-raff heading before becoming teammates, and once they did, they ensured they dished it out to their opponents to get the edge.
