  • NBA fans make the case for the best center in the league between Bam, Embiid, and AD
  • Joel Emiid’s playoff history holds him back from top spot
  • Anthony Davis gets the most votes despite an injury-riddled career

Even in today’s modern NBA, big men are finding new ways to thrive. From Nikola Jokic and Joel Embiid to Bam Adebayo and Anthony Davis, the league has no shortage of talent in the front court, and it can be hard to distinguish which player is above another.

This is why, on Twitter, fans couldn’t help themselves but argue after one account presented the ultimate debate: pick one player to build a team around between Bam Adebayo, Joel Embiid, and Anthony Davis.

Each of the three players brings their own unique skill set, so your answer depends on which values you enjoy the most. For some, Embiid’s MVP win was enough to give him the edge, but many fans picked Anthony Davis for his skill set alone.

AD’s peak is the highest to me when it matters most.

AD and its not that close

The big question with Davis is about injuries. As good as he is on both ends of the floor, his inability to stay healthy has really hurt his career, and it has held him back in some pretty major ways.

Meanwhile, for Bam, he’s been to the Finals twice with the Heat, and he’s young enough to take the mantle for any team in the future. He’s not as established or as strong as Embiid and Davis, but his versatility is a factor to consider in this debate.

Of course, as the NBA’s latest MVP, Embiid is an easy choice for many fans, but his previous playoff failures have become a blemish on his career.

Definitely not the guy who’s never even made the conference finals

Bam is the only one you can expect to stay healthy, defend literally anyone on the court, is going to be making taking up $20M less of cap than the others in '25-'26, and is just entering his prime… Pair him with 2 elite offensive players, and you've got a helluva squad.

it’s difficult, because the one with the most championship exposure is Bam, but he’s also the worst. i think i’ll go Embiid, only because he’s the MVP, but i don’t trust him in the playoffs, so i’d have to add some other top talent.

Who Is The Best Center In The NBA?

While it’s fun to debate between Embiid, Bam, and AD, the title of the best center in the league belongs to the reigning Finals MVP, Nikola Jokic. After barely missing out on his third-straight MVP, the Nuggets star finally had a breakthrough and carried his team to the Finals.

Embiid is a close second, but the only way for him to surpass the Joker would be by winning in the postseason, where he has yet to advance past the second round.

Regardless, things are sure to be interesting for NBA bigs this upcoming season. With a lot of young risers and longtime veterans competing for their spots, it will be interesting to see which guys rise above the rest.
