• Damian Lillard has achieved everything he wanted to in the NBA

• The only thing left on the 33-year-old point guard’s list is winning an NBA title

• Lillard requested a trade away from the Portland Trail Blazers to be sent to a title-contending team

The Portland Trail Blazers are going to lose arguably their franchise’s best player ever, Damian Lillard, this summer. Lillard requested a trade, and the Blazers are likely to give him the move he wants to rebuild with their current roster.

Lillard had spoken to JJ Redick in March of this year, where he expressed his desire to only push toward adding a championship to his stacked career.

(Starts at 48:00)

”I don’t think I would go crazy if I didn’t, but like, I really want to win a ring. The thing that I always come back to is, I feel like I’ve checked the box on everything that makes me feel like if I was done today, I’d have a successful career because I’d be fulfilled because I haven’t taken any shortcuts.”

Lillard averaged 32.2 points, 4.8 rebounds, and 7.3 assists last season and did everything he possibly could do to make sure the Blazers were competitive.

Unfortunately, even those numbers didn’t make the Blazers remotely competitive. Now, the star is angling for a move to the Miami Heat and making headlines daily.

Will Damian Lillard Find Himself On The Miami Heat?

Lillard wants to be on the Heat, and he has been incredibly open about that fact. Everything he’s done this offseason is to push a move through to join the Heat and no other team, creating conflict with the Blazers to the extent that the league had to intervene.

At this point, it doesn’t look like any other team will be taking the risk of parting with real trade assets to get a disgruntled Lillard on an expensive and long contract. The Heat won’t have an opportunity to add a player of this caliber again, so they’re going to sit patiently until the deal gets done.

Superstars usually get their way, and Lillard has already successfully poisoned his market. It is a question of when Lillard joins Miami, not if Lillard joins Miami.
