Memphis Grizzlies star Ja Morant has shared a new tattoo where the artist used his back as a canvas to convey many things.
The tattoo features references to Nike, his signature shoe, four aces & dice to signify that ‘life is a game’, and his jersey number. The bottom right is significant, as it reads ’24 Mentality’ and obvious reference to Kobe Bryant and his Mamba Mentality.
Bryant’s Mamba Mentality has reached mythic status in the NBA. The stories people tell make it seem like a strong will is all anyone needs to be successful. Maybe it is, as Bryant went out of his way to separate himself from his peers and stand tall as one of the greatest of all time and the finest of his generation.
Ja Morant Needs To Start Living Up To His Potential
There is nothing that we have seen on the court that implies Ja Morant isn’t living up to his potential. Last season, the Grizzlies star averaged 26.2 points, 5.9 rebounds, and 8.1 assists with 61 games played. He was named an All-Star as well.
The reason he missed games was due to an eight-game suspension by the NBA for flashing a gun on an IG Live while in a club in Denver. This also took him out of the race for an All-NBA selection many thought he was bound to get.
Morant was caught in another gun-related predicament when he flashed one in another IG Live while in a car. This led to the league promptly issuing a 25-game suspension, a big blow to the Grizz to start the season.
Ja has been sensational whenever he’s played. By inking Mamba Mentality on his body, he needs to start living by it and spending hours at the gym and not drinking or partying.
