  • LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Stephen Curry are three of the greatest to ever play the game
  • They all have come up big in the big moments over the course of their careers
  • Fans debated which of the three they’d want taking the last shot to win the game

The sign of a great player is that they come up big and deliver the goods when the pressure is the highest. Over the course of their respective careers, LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Stephen Curry have done just that.

But who among these three would be best suited to take that final shot to win the game? Well, fans debated on that topic recently.

A fan hilariously responded like Max Kellerman, “I Want Iguodala.”

One fan thinks the numbers make it clear that LeBron should be the one taking it, “The numbers do not lie. LeBron is the most clutch player in NBA history. Any other answer is feelings over facts.”

Another went with Bryant and threw some shade at LeBron, “I’ll take Kobe, knowing Bron he’ll just pass it to Danny Green.”

A fan chose Bryant because he is the best tough shot maker here, “All in prime…I want Kobe not based on stats, but just because I know he can hit harder shots than Bron, if Bron was a difficult shot maker like Kobe then T would pick him…but I would rather Kobe shoot over a double team than LeBron…and Curry is the least clutch on this list”

One fan stated it depended on the kind of shot that is taken, “If it gotta be a 3 then Curry, midrange Kobe, layup/dunk LeBron”

The large majority of fans went with Kobe and he certainly took and made a ton of big shots. He is generally regarded as one of the most clutch players ever and he has delivered some truly iconic moments over the years.

What Do The Numbers Say?

As for what the numbers state, you can make strong cases for LeBron and Kobe.

As per Basketball Reference, Kobe has hit the most game-winning buzzer-beaters among these three with eight, while LeBron is right behind him at seven. Shockingly, while Curry has hit multiple game-winners, he’s only hit one buzzer-beater, which incidentally came against the Houston Rockets last year.

In the playoffs, however, LeBron has hit the most clutch shots since 1997, with 11 makes while Bryant hit five. The fact that some still believe LeBron isn’t clutch boggles the mind considering all the times that he has delivered the goods.

Another knock on Curry here would be that he is 0-14 from the field on shots to take the lead in the final 50 seconds of playoff games. That’s not to say Curry hasn’t had any great moments in the clutch, of course, as his greatness has shone through on various occasions for Golden State.
