Jayson Tatum doesn’t believe in sitting out of games, and he made that point clear. And that comes as a refreshing take where load management is a much-debated topic.

Talking to young players during an Elite Youth basketball camp, Tatum sent out a message to upcoming players about why he would never miss a chance to be part of a game.

“I don’t decide … we playing the Hornets tonight, Ima chill. Somebody paid their money to come watch me play. I only get to go to Charlotte two times a year. Someone paid their money to come watch me play. Like not trying to be arrogant or anything but there’s a bunch of kids with my shoes and jersey on.”

He further added:

“And just because we’re playing Charlotte on NBA League Pass on Monday and ain’t nobody watching, (I don’t say) alright I’m chilling tonight. That’s not what the great players/the best players do. So competing in the middle, I love it. That’s basketball.”

"I don't decide … we playing the Hornets tonight, Ima chill. Somebody paid their money to come watch me play. … Big game [or] not big game, compete."

At 25, it’s brilliant to see the Boston Celtics forward share wise words of wisdom. And to put things in perspective, he has played well over 60 games each season in all of his six years in the NBA. This past season, when the team made the Conference Finals, he averaged 30.1 points, 8.8 rebounds, and 4.6 assists from 74 games.

Hopefully, more players can take inspiration from his strong mentality to be the best and consistent in suiting up for games.

Jayson Tatum Includes Himself In The List Of Next Face Of The NBA

Jayson Tatum named himself among the popular names staking their claim as the next face of the NBA.

โ€œYou got guys like me, Luka [Doncic], Jaylen Brown, Donovan Mitchell,โ€ he said, according to Ball Don’t Lie. โ€œThe league is in great hands. So many talented guys.โ€

He also included the likes of Giannis Antetokounmpo, Joel Embiid, and Nikola Jokic. Tatum’s name in the mix isn’t a boastful call, as he has been a vital cog in the Celtics team for the last few seasons. He led the side to the NBA Finals and the Conference Finals in the two previous seasons.

Safe to say, should he continue his exploits in the league, Tatum will rightfully herald the next few years of the NBA.
