During Game 3 of the Eastern Conference Semifinals, Joel Embiid returned to the starting lineup of the Philadelphia 76ers after an injury. Embiid’s return wasn’t enough, as the Boston Celtics took a 2-1 lead in the series.

One of the most talked about aspects of the game was when Joel Embiid curb-stomped Grant Williams’ head after losing balance during a possession. Williams talked about the incident in a recent episode of the ‘Run Your Race’ podcast.

“I thought he dove on the ball and just landed on me,” Williams said. “I didn’t realize he stepped that big a** foot on my head. Luckily, he didn’t land his weight on it. … I might have been dead. I might have been out of here, bro.”

Williams was lucky that Embiid didn’t land his entire weight when he curb-stomped him. As per Williams, Embiid weighs more than 300 lbs, and if he had put his entire weight in the incident, the former Celtics player could have been seriously injured.

At the end of the day, Embiid stepped on his head by accident. The two players talked it out later and proceeded to compete throughout the series.

Jaylen Brown’s Honest Reaction To Joel Embiid Stomping Grant Williams’ Head To The Ground

Jaylen Brown closely watched the whole incident as he was lying right beside Grant Williams. While Brown didn’t get hurt, he was still taken aback by the accident.

In the postgame interview, Brown shared his perspective on Embiid curb-stomping Williams.

“I ain’t gonna keep commenting on the officiating,” Jaylen Brown said. “What I saw was Grant getting his head stepped on by a 300 lbs. individual. To see that live was crazy in real-time. That was probably the craziest thing I’ve seen on a basketball court.”

He added: “Put his life on the line for [the game] and to see his head get smashed on the court and get up with a smile on his face, that’s Grant Williams.”

It’s great to see players showcase such passion for the game. But at the end of the day, a player’s health is more important than the sport.
