The Boston Celtics beat the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 3 to take a 2-1 series lead in the Eastern Conference Semifinals. This happened despite the return of Joel Embiid, whose most memorable contribution to the game was a controversial one.

In the 4th quarter, Joel Embiid jumped over Jaylen Brown and Grant Williams while off-balance, and his foot smashed into the backs of Williams’ head. It led to some bleeding, and Williams had to go out, but it didn’t seem intentional from Embiid. But Jaylen Brown had a more simplistic view of it.

“I ain’t gonna keep commenting on the officiating,” Jaylen Brown said. “What I saw was Grant getting his head stepped on by a 300 lbs. individual. To see that live was crazy in real time. That was probably the craziest thing I’ve seen on a basketball court.”

He went on to praise Grant Williams for his reaction, adding: “Put his life on the line for (the game) and to see his head get smashed on the court and get up with a smile on his face, that’s Grant Williams.”

The step from Embiid looked far from intentional, so it’s no surprise that he wasn’t ejected from the game. But Jaylen Brown’s reaction shows that he was quite shaken by what he saw. Officiating and rules aside, an accidental stomp like that could have been a threat to Grant Williams’ career and even his life.

The good thing is that Williams was able to check back into the game after receiving treatment, which means everything is alright with him. That’s all that matters in a situation like this, and his dedication wasn’t in vain, considering that the Celtics won the game as well.

The Boston Celtics Are In A Good Position In The Series After Their Game 3 Win

By beating the Philadelphia 76ers in Game 3, the Celtics have won back home-court advantage. What’s more, they had contributions from across the roster, with five players scoring 15 or more points. The team is rolling, they won in Philadelphia with Joel Embiid returning to the floor, and they are now in a good spot to get back to the Eastern Conference Finals.

The upcoming game will be a crucial one, if Jaylen Brown and the Celtics can get the job done, it would put them firmly in the driver’s seat. He’s been consistent in the first three games, averaging just under 24 points per game. If he can explode and have a big game, it could mean the end of the line for Joel Embiid, the MVP, and his Sixers.
