Superstar Kevin Durant is one of the most accomplished players in NBA history, and there is no doubt that he’s one of the greatest basketball minds that have ever been on the planet.

There is an old saying that is viewed by man to be true, and that is that “defense wins championships”. Many championship teams throughout NBA history have been elite on the defensive end, such as the Bulls of the 1990s or the San Antonio Spurs of the 2000s. However, Kevin Durant has a bit of a different take, claiming that offense is what wins you championships.

Offense wins u championships brother https://t.co/FFM75G0n3P

Y’all problem is that when I say offense wins, u think I’m saying I hate defense.. https://t.co/5NPUb8zvMf

It is clear that this take from Kevin Durant will be a shock to many. However, Kevin Durant does have a point. Championships are won with team defense, but also, every championship team has at least one transcendent offensive player or multiple elite offensive players. Saying that offense wins don’t mean that defense doesn’t matter, but rather, it is about focusing on the offensive players that actually win said championships.

Kevin Durant will have a chance to prove his point on the court next season with the Phoenix Suns. They will likely be an offensive powerhouse, with a three-headed monster of himself alongside Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. If they win a championship, that could show the world that the key to winning at the highest level is offense, not defense.

The Phoenix Suns Have A High Likelihood Of Being A Potent Offense

Aside from the star talent that is currently on the roster, the Phoenix Suns also have a number of quality role players that they signed in free agency. In fact, the Phoenix Suns have nine players that shot 35.0% or better from the 3PT range last season, and it is clear that the spacing on the roster will be supreme, and they could end up as one of the highest-scoring teams in the league.

There is no doubt that the Phoenix Suns have the talent to be successful. Hopefully, we do see them win a championship with Kevin Durant, but they will have to go through a lot of talented teams to make this dream a reality next year.
