The Oklahoma City Thunder has one of the best young cores in the NBA right now. While most fans pay attention to the rise of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander and Chet Holmgren’s potential, they tend to forget about Lu Dort.
Dort has established himself as an elite defender in the NBA. He will be entering the fifth season of his NBA career, and Dort has apparently put on some muscle in the offseason.

These pictures of Dort have gone viral on Twitter. Here are some of the best reactions to the transformation of the 24-year-old forward.
A fan confused Dort with an NFL player.

Oh. Ok let’s not ever trade him. Or piss him off.

It’s great that Dort has bulked up, but that’s far from what OKC needs him to improve at. Dort averaged 13.7 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 2.1 APG in the 2022-23 NBA season. However, he shot just 38.8% from the field, which was ranked second-last in the league.
Hopefully, Dort can improve that aspect of his game and become a valuable member for the Thunder.
Luka Doncic Believes Lu Dort Is An Elite Defender
While shooting has been a consistent issue for Lu Dort, he’s a beast on the defensive end of the floor.
In fact, Dallas Mavericks superstar Luka Doncic claims Lu Dort is a top 3 defender in the NBA right now.
“He’s a great defender,” Doncic said. “He’s one of the top 3 defenders in the NBA. It’s really tough to play against him, so he’s been doing incredible jobs since I’ve been here.”
There must be some truth to Doncic’s assessment of Dort. After all, the Thunder signed Dort to a five-year $87.5 million contract extension last summer. Can Dort prove that he’s worth that money? We will find out this season.
