Zion Williamson has been in the news for all the wrong reasons this offseason, and he needs to bring the focus back to his play when the 2023-24 season begins.

The big question about Zion on the court has always been whether he can stay healthy for the whole season. And he revealed his outlook on that this offseason, explaining how LeBron James has inspired him on that front.

“So the diet piece, I’m always able to come back each summer feeling good, looking good,” Zion Williamson said. “But I would say it’s more of locking in on flexibility, band work.

“Because I think it’s those things that will be able to keep me on the court longer versus just losing weight and then coming to play by being able to maintain that. I mean, Bron got the blueprint.”

Zion Williamson has played just 114 NBA games in the regular season since being drafted in 2019, and considerable criticism has come from his inability to stay on the court. His body type has made it difficult for him to keep up with the demands of the NBA, and LeBron James is the ultimate inspiration to have on that front.

The New Orleans Pelicans were a contender when Zion Williamson stayed on the court last season. And LeBron James’ legendary longevity might be difficult for him to replicate, but he can use some of those things to improve his availability. Zion is an All-Star that has averaged 26.5 points per game when healthy after his rookie season, so it will be good to see if he can do more of that.

Zion Williamson Has Admitted To Struggling With His Diet

Zion Williamson’s weight is a big topic of conversation every year around the league. While he has his chef, he hasn’t always been able to stick with a diet that keeps his weight down. Recently, he admitted that this is something he struggles with

“Since this you, I will be real. There were times when I wasn’t, that sh*t’s hard man. I’m 20-22, have a lot of money, feel like all the money in the world, man. It is hard. I am at that point now because of certain things and the wisdom around me. I don’t wanna say older, but the people around me with wisdom put me on game to certain things and go from there.”

There have been suggestions that the New Orleans Pelicans should move on from Zion and trade him, but it seems they’re not giving up on him just yet. He has everything to prove next season, the eyes of the basketball world will firmly be on him to see if he can stay healthy.
