Victor Wembanyama is tipped to be the next great NBA big man in the coming years. The first overall pick in the 2023 Draft has been considered one of the most sought-after prospects in recent NBA history. While his debut in the NBA Summer League did not go to plan, he did get to meet one of the all-time great big men in NBA history.

Victor Wembanyama got the chance to meet and converse with NBA legend Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, who was in Las Vegas to take in the NBA Summer League. The two had a brief conversation and then posed together for a picture. It is a rare sight to see Kareem Abdul-Jabbar be the shorter person in a picture, but Wembanyama made that happen.

Wembanyama seemed to attract a lot of attention heading into Las Vegas this weekend, as it would be NBA fans’ first chance to see him play as a San Antonio Spur. While his performance was not as good as many would have hoped, Wemby can show why he was the unanimous first-overall pick during this tournament.

Victor Wembanyama Set To Dominate The NBA

Victor Wembanyama had a poor first game in the NBA Summer League, scoring just 9 points and going 2 for 13 from the field. He even had multiple embarrassing moments during the game, including getting posterized by Kai Jones. Wembanyama will be hoping to turn things around going into tonight’s game against the Trail Blazers.

Kareem also gave advice to Wembanyama during the game, saying that he needs to be patient in his first few years in the NBA. Kareem was not the only legend who met Wembanyama. Carmelo Anthony spoke to him after the game and even gave him some advice about being in Las Vegas for the Summer League.

Wembanyama spoke after the game about his performance, noting that he didn’t know what he was doing. Perhaps he can take the experience from his first game to try and adjust his style to have better performances going forward.
