Scoot Henderson’s Summer League debut against the Houston Rockets had seemingly gotten off to the best possible start. In just the first quarter, Scoot had 13 points, 3 rebounds, and 3 assists on 5/7 shooting from the field.

Unfortunately for Scoot, he slowed down a bit as the game went on and then in the third quarter, had to leave the contest due to a right shoulder injury.

“INJURY UPDATE: Scoot Henderson (R shoulder) will not return to today’s @NBASummerLeague game @ HOU.”

There is no clarity yet on the seriousness of this injury, but this could be the Portland Trail Blazers just being cautious. There is no reason to keep Henderson in a Summer League game if he is feeling any kind of discomfort on that shoulder.

This was a bit of deja vu for the team and fans, however, as last year Shaedon Sharpe exited in the first quarter of his Summer League debut with a shoulder injury. It was serious enough for him to miss the rest of the Summer League as he only returned to action at the start of the regular season.

Hopefully, Henderson’s injury isn’t that serious and we get to see a bit more of him before the 2023-24 campaign starts. He finished his first game with a solid stat line of 15 points, 5 rebounds, 6 assists, and a steal.

Scoot Henderson Is Ready To Be The Face Of The Trail Blazers

Henderson has joined the Blazers with there being some tension behind the scenes. Damian Lillard, who has been the face of the team for nearly a decade, wants out and he only wants to go to the Miami Heat. The Blazers, however, are not impressed with the Heat’s package and we look set for some drama.

Henderson, though, isn’t paying too much attention to the Lillard situation. He is ready to embrace being the new face of the franchise and based on the little we saw from him, he seems capable of it. Hopefully, the injury bug stays away from him.
