From 2015 to 2018, LeBron James and Draymond Green faced off against each other in four consecutive NBA Finals. Green once considered James a fierce rival, but over the years, the two superstars have forged a close friendship.
Green recently opened up on his friendship with James in ‘Podcast P.’ Draymond Green mentioned to Paul George how LeBron James is like a brother to him and their relationship is only growing stronger.
“Well, I think No. 1, when you step on the court, there is no friends,” Green explained to George. “Here’s what I will say: As I’ve gotten older in my career, I don’t just go out on the court with the ‘I hate you’ mindset. And I used to go out with the ‘I hate you’ mindset to everybody and not be able to separate the two.”
Green added: “As far as us being as tight as we are, like that’s my big brother, love him to death, and ain’t nothing changing that. The only thing changing that is our relationship continues to grow.”
Draymond Green is aware of how fans mistake his friendship with his rivals like LeBron James. He clarified that he knows how to stop it from affecting his performance on the court.
“What I’m here to tell people is you probably shouldn’t concern yourself with that because there’s nothing you can do about it, and it doesn’t affect your life,” Green said. “Even if I go out and lose this game, it don’t affect your life, unless you decided to put money on it, and that’s your issue. And even if I go win this game, it doesn’t really affect your life. So you probably shouldn’t invest your time in wondering about our relationship.”
The 33-year-old concluded: “But like, there is a respect and a love that’s there that no basketball is going to change, no game is going to change, no series is going to change. That love and that respect and that brotherhood is there. Ain’t none of this changing that. And if you wanted to or if you hoped it will or you think it does, I’m sorry, but I’m not sorry. None of these things are changing that. If you think that I’m going to go back to that and take that same disrespect and disrespect my brother, I’m sorry, I can’t.”

A couple of weeks ago, Draymond Green was seen together with LeBron James in France. It sparked rumors about Green potentially joining forces with James. After all, he declined his $27.6 million player option with the Golden State Warriors a day after meeting with the King.
Green ultimately returned to the Warriors. He signed a four-year $100 million contract with the Dubs. The veteran forward has a player option in the final year of his new deal.
Draymond Green On His Relationship With Stephen Curry And Klay Thompson
Draymond Green’s friendship with LeBron James has led many to believe that his relationship with Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson is butchered.
However, that’s far from the case. Green revealed he provided Curry and Thompson with every update during his free agency saga.
Now, with Green back on the roster, it’s safe to assume that the trio will try to win another NBA Championship before ultimately retiring from the league in the future.
The Warriors finished the 2022-23 NBA season with a 44-38 record in the Western Conference. Green averaged 8.5 PPG, 7.2 RPG, and 6.8 APG in the regular season.
