Point guard Fred VanVleet was a fan favorite during his time with the Toronto Raptors, notably winning the championship with the team in 2019. Many have enjoyed watching his basketball journey, as the guard grew from being an undrafted player to being an All-Star.

However, it seems as though Fred VanVleet’s time with the Raptors is over, as the guard elected to join the Houston Rockets on a three-year, $130 million deal. A lot of fans are going to miss him, and it seems as though some decided to engage in some lighthearted trolling after his departure. Artist Drake (avid Raptors fan), commented on Fred VanVleet’s goodbye post to the Raptors, jokingly telling him to have “good luck on the Guangdong Dragons.”

“My look-alike…the love is forever thank you for your character and your contributions over the years the city will never forget!!! Good luck with everything on the Guangdong Dragons……..I mean the Rockets”

There is no doubt that this is a hilarious comment from Drake, but ultimately, it is all love between the duo. It is clear that he is a fan of VanVleet, and appreciates his contributions to the Raptors.

This past season, Fred VanVleet averaged 19.3 PPG, 4.1 RPG, and 7.2 APG for the Toronto Raptors. He is a solid 3PT shooter and playmaker and will be a culture-setter for the Houston Rockets.

Fred VanVleet’s $130 Million Contract Is The Biggest One In NBA History For An Undrafted Player

Fred VanVleet has clearly made a lot of money in his career even prior to joining the Houston Rockets, but it seems as though this deal has made it to the record books. In fact, his $130 million deal is the largest for an undrafted player in NBA history.

It will be interesting to see how Fred VanVleet ends up doing on the Houston Rockets. He will have a huge role within the team’s offense, and one can expect him to provide leadership and guidance to young players such as Jalen Green and Alperen Sengun. Many have questioned whether he will end up living up to his contract, but at the end of the day, it is always good to see an underdog get his money.
