Eric Gordon picked the Suns over other contenders.

Shooting guard Eric Gordon was one of the more coveted veterans on the free agency market this summer. He has shown that he can play at a high level in the playoffs and has plenty of experience.

It was recently reported that Eric Gordon joined the Phoenix Suns, and there’s no doubt that this will give him a legitimate chance to get real playing time and win a championship. It seems as though he picked the Suns over other fantastic options, with Shams Charania revealing that he rejected the Golden State Warriors and the Milwaukee Bucks to join the Suns.

There is no doubt that Eric Gordon would have been a good fit for both the Bucks and the Warriors. He’d likely have a prominent role in both places coming off the bench, but on the Suns, he might have the opportunity to become a starter.

During the 2022-23 regular season, Eric Gordon averaged 12.4 PPG, 1.9 RPG, and 2.7 APG during his time with the Los Angeles Clippers and the Houston Rockets while shooting 37.1% from the 3PT range. He is still a solid rotational player, and hopefully, he has a good year.

The Phoenix Suns Were A Prime Destination For Ring-Chasing Veterans

The Phoenix Suns have managed to sign a number of good veterans for the veteran minimum in free agency besides Eric Gordon, including Yuta Watanabe and Damion Lee. In fact, ahead of free agency, many teams thought that they were a prime destination for ring-chasing veterans.

“Other teams are worried about that, several teams that I’ve talked to. The fear is that when it comes down to the veteran minimum guys, the Suns are gonna have the cream of the crop. There’s a concern from other teams that everybody is going to want to go to Phoenix before anywhere else, because of playing time. A chance to win and playing time.”

The Suns have clearly managed to acquire some nice depth in free agency, and they are definitely a threat to win the championship next season. The key will be developing chemistry for them, and of course, their stars also need to remain healthy. However, from a talent standpoint, they have it all.
