As champions of the basketball world, the Denver Nuggets are undeniably the best team in the NBA right now, and Nikola Jokic (the Finals MVP) is easily its best player right now.

And if you ask former champion Paul Pierce about Jamal Murray’s place in the NBA hierarchy, he’ll tell you that the veteran sharpshooter is also at the top of his position.

“He can score just as good as any of them, he averaged 10+ assists, he play solid D. he gives you everything as a point guard. It ain’t nothing you can’t do. You got Luka, you got Ja, you got Steph Curry… Kyrie. Right now, I think Jamal Murray is the best point guard moving forward in the league.”

Love him or hate him, you have to respect what Jamal Murray did in these playoffs. During the Finals alone, he averaged 27.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 6.8 assists on 59.8% true shooting.

Even still, is he really better than Steph Curry, Damian Lillard, and Luka Doncic? Most would say no, especially considering that Murray isn’t even the next player on his won’t team. He’s perfect for the Nuggets, and he really is the ideal fit next to Nikola Jokic.

Jamal Murray Has Earned The Ultimate Respect

No matter where you rank Jamal among the best guards in the league, you can not deny that he was effective in this postseason. As an elite scorer, ball handler, and playmaker, Murray stepped up for the Nuggets throughout the playoffs and his performance did not go unnoticed.

“Jamal Murray had said something earlier in the playoffs. He was like, how much do I have to do to get respect? And when I saw that I thought it was very interesting because Jamal Murray is a very good player… but the reason you’re not getting respect is because people don’t think you are consistently doing it,” said Draymond Green. “Jamal Murray has completely changed that in these playoffs.”

There is no doubt that Steph Curry and the other NBA elites will come back with e vengeance next campaign, but the road through the West goes through Denver now, and Jamal Murray will never waste an opportunity to flex his worth against the best of the best.
