Jimmy Butler joined the Miami Heat in 2019. Since then, he has led the franchise to two NBA Finals and an Eastern Conference Finals appearance.

However, Jimmy has now failed twice to get over the hurdle in the NBA Finals. Jimmy and Heat were sent packing in five games by the Denver Nuggets in the 2023 NBA Finals. Despite failing to lift the glorious Larry O’Brien trophy twice in his career, Butler is still optimistic about his chances of winning a ring with the Heat.

“It’s been great,” Butler said during the postgame conference. “I’ve had some hell of a teammates come through here and compete with me and give us the opportunity to win a championship. I still believe with everything in me that we will do as a team here, as an organization, as a city in Miami.”

Butler added: “The four years have been great. It’s always great to be wanted and loved and appreciated. I don’t think that’s gonna change, but for the time being… I’m grateful man that we made it here.”

Jimmy Butler had a terrible performance in Game 5 of the 2023 NBA Finals. Butler recorded 21 points, 3 rebounds, and 5 assists while shooting 5-18 from the field in the 89-94 defeat.

For the series, Jimmy averaged 21.6 PPG, 4.6 RPG, and 6.4 APG while shooting an underwhelming 41.3% from the field.

Jimmy Butler Denied That His Ankle Injury Had Any Impact On His NBA Finals Performance

Jimmy Butler sustained an ankle injury vs. the New York Knicks during the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Since picking up that injury, Butler has never looked at his full strength.

Considering Butler struggled to play well in the NBA Finals, many wondered if the injured ankle was the reason behind it. However, the 33-year-old didn’t make any excuse for playing poorly vs. the Denver Nuggets.

“Zero. My ankle’s fine. We just didn’t win, there’s no excuse. They beat us.”

It’s good to see Butler not making any excuses for not showing up in the NBA Finals. Although Jimmy is still a decent player, can he really lead the Heat to a title? The organization will enter the offseason with that thought in mind.
