The Charlotte Hornets are linked heavily to Alabama’s Brandon Miller, according to recent reports.

According to Kevin O’Connor of The Ringer in his latest mock draft, “all indications suggest the Hornets are leaning toward Miller with this choice as a partner for LaMelo Ball.”

This comes on the back of ESPN’s Jonathan Givony’s report, which said, “While there is a process that will need to play out over the next month, it was hard to find a single NBA executive at the draft combine who believed that G League Ignite guard Scoot Henderson will eventually rise into the No. 2 spot.”

The wing averaged 18.8 points and 8.2 rebounds per game in his single season at Alabama and was instrumental in the Crimson Tide winning an SEC championship. As the June 22 Draft approaches, it looks like Miller has leapfrogged Scoot Henderson to be drafted as the No. 2 pick.

Brandon Miller’s Interviews Earlier Were A Cause Of Concern

Prior to Miller and the Hornets’ recent development, there were concerns regarding his interviews.

“Every team is looking for this type of player,” said Givony on Zach Lowe’s podcast. “Six-nine, the big guard, can handle the ball. Pass out of pick and roll. Make shots off the dribble. Defend multiple positions. Rebound. That’s what people are looking for. At the same time, he’s not in great shape right now. So I don’t know how great his workout is going to be. His interviews have not been great, I’ve been told. Both publicly and privately with NBA teams.”

Surely, Miller has the skills and the talent to be a high-impact player for any team, but it will be some time before he’s able to understand and deal with the high-octane pressures of the NBA.

Either way, in a draft that has to date been dominated by Victor Wembanyama, there are interesting storylines coming to light.
