The LeBron James saga has taken another turn following reports claiming Kyrie Irving wants the Dallas Mavericks to trade for the 38-year-old.
The NBA community is divided about the rumors. Former Washington Wizards star Gilbert Arenas is someone who wants LeBron to stay away from the Mavericks. Arenas went on a hilarious NSFW rant on Instagram to prove his point.
“@kingjames think about your legacy. You go to Dallas wearing that (Green and blue). Looking like a black a** peacock will have you behind Karl Malone with that (glacier ice blue and violet) they were wearing. Looking like a whole WNBA colorway. You can only be a great in (gold, man purple, red, white, and black).”
Arenas wants LeBron to remain a member of the Los Angeles Lakers. Although his rant was on point, he could have avoided taking shots at the Mavericks’ jersey.
He thinks James would look like a peacock if he wore a Dallas jersey. It’s a hilarious way to warn the King about staying in L.A.
LeBron James Would Be Intrigued To Join The Dallas Mavericks If He Leaves The Los Angeles Lakers
The Dallas Mavericks are essentially Luka Doncic’s team. So, it is no surprise that Doncic feels Kyrie Irving went behind his back to recruit LeBron James to the Mavs.
But let’s assume Doncic green lights the move. NBA insider Marc Stein believes James would be intrigued to play for the Mavericks in that case.
“What can be bankably confirmed about any LeBron connection to the Mavericks: Dallas is certainly a team, league sources say, that would intrigue the 38-year-old as a potential landing spot if James ever reached the point of searching for a new place to play. James is a well-known admirer of Doncic — and vice versa — and maintains close relationships with Mavericks coach Jason Kidd and assistant coach Jared Dudley after their championship run together in the Walt Disney World bubble in Orlando to cap the 2019-20 season..”
James’ admiration for Doncic could play a key role in his potential move to Dallas. In addition to it, LeBron has a great bond with Irving due to their time together with the Cleveland Cavaliers.
On paper, the trio sounds unstoppable, but there is no confirmation from James that he indeed wants to leave the Lakers this summer. He is yet to give another update on his future following a hint at retirement after getting eliminated from the 2023 playoffs.
