The defense has become an underrated aspect of basketball in the modern era, but the biggest stars still take pride in stopping their opponents in a 1-on-1 matchup.

Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James, all have made All-Defensive First Teams in their careers and locked opponents up. And there is a particular stance they take, which shows they are serious, that was highlighted by fans on social media after Sportscenter posted about it.

The slides include pictures of Michael Jordan, Kobe Bryant, Giannis Antetokounmpo, and Kawhi Leonard among others. All doing the same stance. As one fan put it, seeing this means there are only a few options left for the player with the ball.

Kobe Bryant was named to 12 All-Defensive Teams in his career, he made it a personal challenge to lock other stars down. And he got his inspiration from Michael Jordan, who was Defensive Player Of The Year. As one fan explained, the stance was on a different level when either of those two legends got into it.

While most of the players shown in the post were lockdown defenders, they did make one odd choice. Damian Lillard is far from an elite defender, and there were fans in the comments trolling his inclusion.

While a majority of fans agreed with the idea that defenders are in a different zone when they get into a stance like this, one fan presented an alternate take. They said that seeing this stance should be interpreted by the opponent as a challenge and then backing down is not an option.

Michael Jordan Led The League In Scoring And Made The All-Defensive First Team Nine Times

There is a reason Michael Jordan gets the majority vote in terms of the GOAT debate, and that is his exemplary performance on both ends of the floor. Jordan won MVP and DPOY in the same year. And on top of that, he led the league in scoring and was selected to the All-Defensive First Team in the same season on nine occasions.

Kobe Bryant managed this feat two times, LeBron James has never done it.  As the game continues to be more geared towards offense, the art of defense is getting lost bit by bit. But the legacy of past greats remains. Even today, most NBA players still want to be just like Michael Jordan.
