The 2023 NBA Finals have started between the Denver Nuggets and the Miami Heat. After seeing the Nuggets handle business in Game 1, not many expect it to be a close series between the two sides.

Renowned Canadian rapper Drake also seems to trust the Nuggets to easily win the series. The 36-year-old reportedly placed a combined $1.25 million bet on the Nuggets to finish the series in five games over the Heat in the 2023 NBA Finals.

The first parlay he placed was for predicting the correct score of the series. He placed a $250,000 bet on the Nuggets winning the series 4-1. And the second parlay worth $1 million is for the Nuggets to become the champions of the NBA.

If Drake’s predictions are correct, he could net a total profit of $830,000. But let’s be honest, Drake is not the wisest when it comes to placing bets. Over the years, many teams have lost after Drake bets on them.

The most recent example of the ‘Drake Curse’ was seen when he placed bets on the Lakers and the Heat earlier in the postseason. Both teams ended up losing games.

The Denver Nuggets Kept Jimmy Butler Quiet In Game 1

If the Denver Nuggets want to win the first NBA Championship in franchise history, they need to keep Jimmy Butler in check throughout the series.

The Nuggets didn’t allow Butler to have a good game in Game 1. The 2023 Eastern Conference Finals MVP recorded just 13 points, 7 rebounds, and 7 assists while shooting 6-14 from the field.

But Butler didn’t shy away from taking the blame for the blowout defeat. Jimmy addressed his failure in the postgame conference.

“I gotta put pressure on the rim. Me with no free throws, that was all on myself.”

One thing is certain: if Butler can do what he said over the remainder of the series, then Drake would certainly be unhappy. After all, he may lose $1.25 million.
