The Boston Celtics almost completed a legendary comeback in the Eastern Conference Finals after going down 0-3 against the Miami Heat.

Unfortunately, due to a lackluster performance from Jaylen Brown, the Celtics were blown out in Game 7 of the series. Speaking of Brown, back in 2018, the Celtics star claimed that he wants to win five NBA Championships by the time he’s 28.

“How many championships does 28-year-old Jaylen have?” Rooks asked Brown. He replied, “I’m not even going to jinx myself, but in six years, I’m going to say five or six. I’m gonna say that… I don’t wanna jinx myself, and I don’t play to lose. So I’m gonna give it five.”

A Twitter dug a screenshot from the interview and reminded fans of Brown’s huge statement. Judging by the user handle, the person is undoubtedly a Laker fan.

NBA fans never let go of an opportunity to troll players who make unrealistic claims. Brown became a victim of vicious roasting on Twitter following the Celtics’ exit from the 2023 NBA playoffs.

A fan pointed out the goal was impossible while playing NBA 2K.

Not when you play 2K everyday …. Career mode on ✅

A fan compared Brown’s comments to Ja Morant’s ‘I’m fine in the West’ statement.

“i’m fine in the west” vibes

Another fan claimed that Brown will never win a ring in the NBA.

Forget 5 rings in 5 years. Only rings JB is retiring with is onion rings

A few fans think Brown lied because he was being interviewed by Taylor Rooks.

Sitting across from Taylor I would of said that too

It's Taylor Rooks, I'd lie too without breaking a sweat 🤷🏽‍♀️

Taylor so fine I would have said anything too hell

Since giving the interview, Jaylen Brown and the Celtics have only managed to reach the NBA Finals just once. They were defeated by the Golden State Warriors in the 2022 NBA Finals.

Brown will turn 27 years old later this year, so he essentially has just one year to complete his goal of winning at least five NBA Championships by the time he turns 28.

Will Jaylen Brown Return To The Boston Celtics?

Jaylen Brown has just one year left on his current contract with the Boston Celtics. But there are rumors about Brown getting traded this summer.

If he doesn’t demand a trade, Brown could sign a five-year $290 million supermax contract with the Celtics after the 2023-24 NBA season. It will make him the highest-paid player in NBA history.

Brown is a great player, there is no doubt about that. But the Celtics may think twice before handing him the biggest contract ever. After all, Jayson Tatum will be eligible to sign a supermax contact in 2024.

The Celtics will most likely choose Tatum over Brown. If Jaylen leaves the team this summer, it will certainly make the decision easier for the Celtics.
