The Boston Celtics lost Game 7 against the Miami Heat on Monday night after coming back from down 3-0 in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Jaylen Brown was deemed as the biggest culprit for the loss by NBA fans, thanks to his shocking performance in the deciding game. And an old interview he did with Taylor Rooks has now surfaced where he claimed he would win five championships by the age of 28.

“How many championships does 28-year-old Jaylen have?” Rooks asked Brown. He replied, “I’m not even going to jinx myself but in six years, I’m going to say five or six. I’m gonna say that… I don’t wanna jinx myself and I don’t play to lose. So I’m gonna give it five.”

Jaylen Brown was professing his confidence in himself and his team, it’s not like he guaranteed this. But after the Celtics failed to win again despite being one of the favorites, this interview was bound to come up and get him trolled by fans.

Jaylen Brown is currently 26 years old, but it’s not certain if he will still be on the Boston Celtics after this offseason. He has been pivotal to the Celtics making it to four Conference Finals in six seasons, but they have failed to win the big one. Brown is very cognizant of his shortcomings though, something he showed once again after his Game 7 display.

Jaylen Brown Accepted Blame For The Boston Celtics Losing In The Conference Finals

Jaylen Brown was abysmal in Game 7, despite racking up 19 points, eight rebounds, and five assists. He shot a terrible 34.8% from the field and made just one of his nine attempted three-pointers. He also had eight turnovers. And after the game, he accepted his share of the blame for the result

“I expected to win today and move on. That’s what my focus was on. That’s what my focus has been on. We failed. I failed. And it’s hard to think about anything else right now, to be honest.”

At 26, Jaylen Brown still has a lot of years left to make his impact on the league. Depending on the decisions he makes, he could very well end up winning five championships by the time his career ends. But for now, he will be subjected to quite a bit of criticism and ridicule, which is just how the game goes.
